In my view, 77% is depressingly low... as in many other (but not all) areas, Australia and Sweden are totally waxing us here. I suppose our proximity to elephantine Amerika is largely to blame.

A cuckoo clock Trump would've made a great meme, but instead he turned into a demented ogre who is bent on destroying civilization.
In the 21st century this is evil incarnate. Poilievre is nothing more than a mini-Trump, willing to sell out our children for the short-term profit of burning oil & gas. The legacy of myopic leaders like this will be to leave a wasteland for the next generation. We must stop them. #EndFossilFuels
Wise words. The entrenched Democratic establishment, many of them wealthy themselves, are highly susceptible to influence from the billionaire oligarchs. The 2028 presidential election will be a do or die moment for American democracy.
My reaction exactly. Overall I think the survey does highlight one of the major differences between our two countries, but that number does not reflect our current reality. Many of my fellow Canadians continue to disappoint me on a daily basis.
It also makes me wonder how many times he got away with drunk driving before a conscientious citizen took the trouble to report it. He is not fit to hold public office, and if he decides to run again, hopefully the voters will send him that message in emphatic fashion.
From Dumb to Dumber. We may not have reached Peak Dumb yet, but we're getting ever closer.
Just finished reading it today. Sobering, but also encouraging... a good antidote to doomism.
Get a bread machine, and then all you need is the four ingredients listed on the left to make bread that's better than just about anything you can buy.
We don't filter our water, since the city we live in does a good job of that, and we have excellent tap water. But we do have two high quality Corsi-Rosenthal type air filters (2nd generation, with quiet fans) running 24/7 in our home. Unfortunately, very few homeowners or businesses do likewise.
And this from the lunatic who ranted about Jewish space lasers and wanted Anthony Fauci locked up for "crimes against humanity", among many other bizarre aberrations.
It just goes to show how bad things really are, I guess.
On a recent trip to the Caribbean, we saw many people hacking away in airports and on aircraft, making no effort to protect others. We were dismayed by how thoughtless some people are, and very grateful that we had our N95's to wear! Only about 2% of the travelers we saw were doing likewise. ๐ก
Also, Telidon not Teledon. I know because I worked at the place where it was developed, and knew several of the folks involved.
I'm still amazed at how the Kuwaitis could shoot down three jets, and yet all of the crews were apparently able to eject safely... that would seem to take some finesse, or a lot of luck.
I heard that too - that was our esteemed Minister of Energy & Natural Resources, Tim Hodgson. He's a finance guy who seems to have no cred whatsoever in realistic approaches to dealing with climate change, and many of his pronouncements have been cringe-worthy.
I've been suspicious of the GRAS designation for a long, long time... but now, ick! The GRAS is much greener on the other side of the fence, where we eat real food, mostly plants.
A stool pigeon told me it's in the toilet.
It ranks right up (or rather, down) there with the National Post (and other Postmedia outlets) as a credible source of information.
As others have already said, there is also:
4) to aid his fellow war criminal in arms, Netanyahu
This adds a whole new meaning to the term "rounding error".
It's like 2003, except that this time the Axis of Evil runs through the White House.
Comfy chair by a sunny window on a cold winter's day
The news today is bleak, and it's an unusually chilly first day of March here in Canada's capital, but I have a sunny window by which to repose, and I'm making the best use of my time by reading Science Under Siege, by @michaelemann.bsky.social and @peterhotezmdphd.bsky.social. Highly recommended.
So, what does your mom say?
Hmm... my take was that he's alluding to the belief that diets that are wholly or at least substantially plant-based are healthier, which may be debatable, but I think is also a real thing.
In one case, it's vision; in the other, a lack thereof - it's adhering to the status quo of car culture.
That may be true, but Watson and Sutcliffe/Watson 2.0 have not been striking anything close to the right balance. Instead, their focus has been on pandering for votes and keeping the business community happy.
Yep, a definite bargain. I renewed mine just over a year ago, and the renewal process was also efficient and painless. By the time it expires, I'll probably be too decrepit to travel... sigh.
Not sure if it was conscience or a more calculated move... in any case, in most other respects she remains a malicious nutbar.
Hmm... that's definitely problematic, but if the building is still structurally sound, it might be quite feasible to upgrade/replace the plumbing (and, most likely, the HVAC).
Putnam would be a good choice. The city is already using it for OPH vaccination clinics.
