SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING: Lancaster, Johnson, Jefferson, Otoe, Saline, and Gage counties until 745pm. Another Severe T-storm Warning is in place for Butler, Saline, and Seward until 730pm. 1-1.5" hail possible.
FIRST SEVERE STORM OF THE DAY: Through 545pm, March 6th
A Severe Thunderstorm Warning is in place for the SW corner of Lancaster county, Seward, Jefferson, and Saline counties for 1" hail and 60+ mph wind gusts. The storm is moving northeast at 55 mph.
TORNADO WATCH: Through 10pm, March 6, 2026
A Tornado Watch has been issued for SE Nebraska through 10pm Friday. Strong storms will try to form along a cold front as it slowly moves southeast this afternoon and evening.

Storms will form in highlighted area this afternoon. Hail, damaging wind, and tornadoes are possible. Higher risk will be the further SE you go. Lincoln, Omaha, and Beatrice is on the edge. Black hash marks mean potential for big hail, EF-2 tornadoes, wind in excess of 70 mph.
Storms will be forming in south central and SE Nebraska by 3-5pm Friday. As the storm system moves east, storms are expected to increase in intensity.
Large hail, damaging wind, and tornadoes will be possible if and when they do form in Nebraska.
Very mild on Thursday, then storm become possible by early evening. Strong storms (below) will be possible late Thursday into early Friday.
Ah, but what you don't see is the line of non-severe storms in moving that area.

Where we had sunshine, it was a LOT warmer with highs in the 60s. The warm spot for the day was in North Platte with 64. Much cooler with the cloud cover in the eastern half of the state.
The coldest high for the day was in GI, Hastings, and Tekamah with 43. That's 20 degrees cooler!

A Severe T-storm Warning is in place for Frontier, Perkins, Keith, Lincoln, and Hayes counties until 315pm for 60 mph wind gusts. the storm is moving southeast at 60 mph.
WATCH BEFORE THE WATCH: Feb 25th
An area in the southern panhandle into SW Nebraska is being monitored for a potential severe weather watch.
The chance for a watch is very small, but one or two storms may get strong to severe in this area this Wednesday afternoon.
A level 1 "Marginal Risk" for severe storms is now in place for the southern panhandle into parts of SW Nebraska.
Storms will push through later this afternoon into the early evening. Damaging wind will be the main concern.
Another day in the 50s, but throw in a chance for some scattered afternoon/evening storms.

Lancaster and Seward counties have been added to the WINTER STORM WARNING as of 6pm (Thursday, Feb 19th). Heavy snow has fallen and another couple of inches is possible. Travel will be difficult!
A large range of snow totals are expected over a very short distance. For example, Lancaster county may see a trace of snow in the southern part of the county and over 4" in the northern part. Custer county may see 2-8" of snow!
6-8" of snow in the pink Winter Storm Warning area. Snow has started in western Nebraska, is moving into central Nebraska this morning, and will make its way into eastern Nebraska this afternoon. A trace to 4" in the Winter Weather Advisory counties. Blowing snow is likely.

Snow has to stop somewhere, so forecasters try to line that up with county lines so people can figure out what will happen where they live. Hope that helps!
