Iβd have that printed up & put on your lab wall for people ti see as they came in.
1) to show you made it, & not just alone but, as you say, with the help of others (like your parents).
2) to say that if you can make it so can others.

Whereβs the button for βToo lateβ?
@stephenfgoodwin.bsky.social lab without question.
I know itβs my old lab - but the fact I would go back in a heartbeat should indicate how good a lab it is & how good the science is.
And if was FUN.
I miss it.
And I would welcome my new overlord β Dolly, Trogdora the Burninatorβ.
Whatβs your point please?
The plasmid ligates the hole
Without incorporating
Try to select them all away
But end up false validating
Is this all part of their plan?
Or β¦ wait β¦ do they, perhaps, not have a plan? β¦.
Itβs like a protozoan escape room.
As the main ingredient is βChoclaty Candyβ then at least itβs accurate I suppose β¦.
Willy Wonka & the Choclaty Candy Factory.
It has come to this.
A picture of PEW poll on global attitude survey, saying the % who rate the morality and ethics of people in their country as good vs bad, where the US has the worst rankings and Canada the best
Americans: we live in a fallen stateβembroiled by sin, cheating, lying, and evil. You cannot trust anyone, not even those who claim to know you best
Canadians: I love my neighbors and my friends!
I concur.
Serious question.
In between sorting usersβ imaging issues Iβve spent ALL Day swapping Monitors over, checking PCs to see if they work, data ports to see if they were active etc etc.
Is this normal elsewhere in academia - like Economics or Philosophy - or is just a thing that happens in Science?
Trust me you DO NOT want to know about nuts and berries.
Yep - this paper (& the work it encapsulates) is excellent.
More importantly thereβs an airport out there with a bookstore still?!
Everywhere I go these days youβre lucky if thereβs a book kiosk.
Just take normal items like water hose gun, drills, vacuums, jet washers etc & imperial empire weaponise them (black, countered handles, needless sights).
So. Scotland then.
Coming in to this late & obviously deeply confused already about how the βRight to Free Speechβ thing works (or doesnβt) over there, but also β¦ your a Professorial grade PI & you donβt have vacation or medical coverage?!
How? Are you on the equivalent of an Academic 0 hr contract?
I am a scientist because of the OSC.
In any other society this would be a Grade A Listed Bldg - with protection orders in place & a requirement it should be preserved.
My wife (a Glasgow School of Art graduate) cried when the Mackintosh Building burned down.
I now know how she felt.

The institutional buildings of 1960s Canada were extraordinarily well-built. Throwing them away would be madness.
The 1969 Science Centre is an incredible piece of architecture. It needs some work.
The new building complex is a kludge that will be inferior by any measure.
βStotting aboutβ is still used to describe someone swaggering about the place in Scotland.
Grammar - know youβre shit or know your shit.
Above stolen from someone else - but donβt know who. Or is that whom?
@chrisdornan.bsky.social apparently this is real.
Actually Iβve just seen that Canadian PM Carney is backing these air strikes.
I take it back, it is βthe world continues to be a shitstormβ.
So much for Carneyβs David speech.
Updated:
I was being diplomatic with the use of the βworldβ is a shitstorm.
Being Canadian it seems our great scandal is double-touching the stones in curling.

Much like βthereβs always a tweetβ, thereβs always a Dead Kennedyβs track.
Mainly because the world continues to be a shitstorm.
