Today we announced the California Megafire Prevention Legislative Package.
My bill, SB 973, strengthens wildfire resilience by expanding the Wildfire County Coordinator Program, giving counties more tools and resources to coordinate prevention, preparedness, and mitigation efforts.
SB 968 builds on that success by permanently removing cost as a barrier, expanding opportunity, and investing in the future of our community. (2/2)
Today, I’m announcing SB 968, my bill to make free community college tuition permanent in SMCCCD and—most importantly—the students who benefited from the free tuition bill I authored in 2022. (1/2)

Incredibly grateful to receive the Ratepayer Affordability Champion Award from TURN. The affordability reforms we advanced through SB 254 are expected to save billions over the next 10 years. I look forward to working with TURN to hold utilities accountable and tackle rising energy costs #caleg
CA is taking on the toughest challenges to deliver real reform. We also discussed the growing challenge of data centers and the potential for them to be a boon if done smartly, and supporting economic growth while keeping our focus on affordability and improving water efficiency #caleg #cleanenergy
Today I addressed the California Municipal Utilities Association during their Capitol Day. We discussed lowering energy costs, strengthening wildfire resilience & meeting CA’s clean energy goals. From building a regional power grid with our neighbors to reining in excessive utility profits (1/2)
I joined Sen pro Tem Limón, Speaker Rivas & other colleagues to condemn what ICE is doing in MN. It’s a blatant violation of our rights, & CA is fighting back. In addition to the No Kings Act, we’re funding legal council so immigrants can appear in front of a judge and not get chased by a gun #caleg
Stopping by FOX 40 for a conversation with Eytan Wallace about the Delete Act and California’s newest privacy protection tool DROP, which is the strongest one in the nation. Go to Privacy.ca.gov/drop and reclaim control over your data! #dataprivacy #dataprivacyweek #deleteact #DROP
E-bike use has exploded to more than 1.3M in 2025. With that growth comes important questions about safety, education, and smart policy.

Martin Luther King Jr. Day is a day of service and a time to act on our shared responsibility to one another. Dr. King’s vision calls us to build a more just and compassionate society, especially in times like these. Let’s honor his legacy by putting those values into practice.
Too many Californians, including US citizen & veteran George Retes who was unlawfully detained for days, and the brutal killing of Renee Good in Minneapolis highlight the urgent need for accountability & justice. This bill sends a clear message that no one, not even ICE, is above the law (2/2)
Proud to stand with my colleagues Senators Scott Wiener and Susan Rubio to call for action on SB 747, the No Kings Act, which will ensure that federal officials who violate constitutional rights can be held accountable. (1/2)
Trump’s reckless attack on our AI regulations will styfle innovation and cause serious harm to people. It will undermine CA’s safeguards like the CA AI Transparency Act and our ban on using AI as the sole decider for a patient’s medically necessary treatments.

Congrats to Senator Monique Limón, on becoming the first Latina Senate President pro Tempore in CA’s history. Her leadership, integrity, and passion for service inspire all of us in the Senate. I’m proud to work alongside her as we continue delivering bold solutions for Californians.

To all who wore our nation’s uniform, thank you for your service. 🇺🇸#veteransday
So this happened today!!!
I held a press event at COP w/ the Climate Registry & it was way bigger than I thought it would be. Was a great opportunity to accomplish one of my goals: let people know that despite Trump CA is All In & then the tremendous climate progress we are making!

I’ll try my best to keep you updated on some of the conversations I have here and please let me know if there are folks you think I should meet. I’ve already gotten some helpful introductions from friends. (3/3)
I'm learning so much from other world leaders and many US Mayors who are here. We’re doubling down on our climate efforts in the face of the hostile, backward looking administration in DC. It’s been wonderful to partner already w/ Secretary Wade Crowfoot here at the Local Leaders Summit in Rio (2/3)
So proud to be in Brazil representing California at COP30 & the Local Leaders Forum! They’ve asked me to speak about my work as Senate Energy Chair & everyone is very encouraged to hear about the bills my colleagues & I passed in CA. (1/3)

As the Bay Area Caucus chair, I’m proud to have doubled funding for coastal resilience and bay restoration to $102M. The Bay Area is the front line for sea level rise & we need to do everything we can to protect our communities #caleg #coastalresilience #sd13
