"Disinformation campaigns, ingrained stereotypes, and a 'Russia-first' mentality still impede public understandings of the war. The need to publicize Ukrainian perspectives remains acute." Honored to be the Shevchenko Scientific Society's member of the month. shevchenko.org/news-events/... #ukraine
A quick explanation of how this borrowing to assist Ukraine will work. "Enhanced cooperation" means EU law is being used, but some Member States opt out. The process has been applied a few times before, but never before re the EU budget. 1/
Well I, for one, love that Harold Baines got into the HOF.
In my @forbes.com article, I discuss how the European Union and Ukraine are collaborating on defense efforts and innovation to strengthen European national security

"The 28-point peace plan that the United States and Russia want to impose on Ukraine and Europe is misnamed. It is not a peace plan. . .Awkward wording, evident throughout the document, suggests that at least some of it was originally written in Russian."-- @anneapplebaum.bsky.social
A once great newspaper (and my hometown paper growing up) down the drain.

Very important article about area studies funding in the U.S. Should Americans speak other languages? Do we need experts on the world outside the U.S.? If this funding is not released, we may interrupt a vital pipeline and destroy opportunities for students. www.insidehighered.com/news/faculty...
The reality of Russia's war of conquest against Ukraine has also somehow become lost for a significant part of that machine.
Delighted that my paper with @kevincunning.bsky.social on "Still second-order national elections? Evaluating the classic model after the 2024 European elections" has just been published by @wepsocial.bsky.social

Ru ceasefires are always lies. Time for a broader audience to learn what Ukrainians have known for 11 yrs.
A more accurate headline would be "Putin violates his own Easter ceasefire within hours of declaring it." Not enough for the NY Times to be repackaging GOP press releases as "reporting," now it's doing the same for Vladimir Putin.

Russia just killed dozens of Ukrainians in a missile strike on Palm Sunday, a day after Trump’s envoy Steve Witkoff met Putin, shook hands and posed for cameras. Witkoff visited an Orthodox Christian cathedral. Today church-goers were targeted.

Claude Malhuret is a proper role model for European politicians in these chaotic and existential times for Europe.
Take 8 minutes of your time and listen carefully. It is worth it.

The suspension of U.S. assistance for Ukraine is a very unfortunate and significant development, but it may not have immediate impact. Ukraine is far less dependent on the U.S. for day to day battlefield needs in 2025, than it was in earlier periods of the war. 1/
