An almost impossible adventure game year to hand out awards for, with so many amazing contenders.
Here are the @aghotspot.bsky.social Hotshots awards!
Congrats to all the winners, and also all runner-ups!

It's about time I finally start playing "A Vampyre Story"! Especially since its director Bill Tiller has teamed up with developer Tag of Joy to make a sequel!
Libraries are always my favorite locations in adventure games.
Also in real life, actually...
Missing celebrities found in "Les Manley in: Lost in L.A."!
In the end, I enjoyed this game a lot more than the first game, but of course I was pre-warned how terrible it would be...
"Among the Whispers: Provocation" by @kipthedev.bsky.social took the issues of its predecessor and improved on all of them to deliver a lengthy, scary and highly realistic ghost-hunting simulator with more active gameplay in solving puzzles and figuring out the spiritsβ identities.
After the disaster that was the first game, my sadomasochistic side played up again and enticed me to boot up its sequel, "Les Manley in: Lost in L.A."
Let's find out if this classic is just as frustrating or not...
"Earth Must Die!" is pure escapism with a very stylistic graphical design, which personally made me think of a combination of Disneyβs "The Emperorβs New Groove" and Dreamworksβs "Megamind", except wrapped up in the absurd British humor of Douglas Adams.
I reviewed it for @nicegamehints.bsky.social!
Loved this one. I remember the cd-rom also functioned as an audio cd with the soundtrack, I put that one on a lot. Played the game after the PQ's. Had some trouble with the different interface. Still enjoyed it, but I expected slightly more of the ending. Too bad I no longer have the big box...
A rather fast conclusion to @arumastudios.bsky.social's "Shadows of the Afterland"...
I just discovered another big plus of the game: the recap system when you continue after you've quit, showing a short montage of conversations you had earlier explaining why you are where you left off and what the current objective is.
More adventure games should use this technique!
Okay, perhaps not the most representative screenshot of "Shadows of the Afterland" by @arumastudios.bsky.social, but I just HAD to highlight this recap system! Awesome!
And oh, please read about my further adventures as Carolina the ghost on my blog!
Could be, but I've noticed the catalogues of such services can differ between countries... π¬ I'll check tonight!
I would love to watch Clue again! Had it on VHS way back in a former life... No idea where to find it now...
Should've guessed you would pick it up! Great review, I hope you will like my playthrough posts of the game as well!
Here's one I've been looking forward to for a while now! "Shadows of the Afterland" by @arumastudios.bsky.social is a perfect fit for everyone who loves classic style pixel art point 'n click adventure games.

"TR-49" by @jon.inkle.co of @inkle.co definitely isn't for everyone. It's certainly not a traditional point 'n click adventure game. It's a narrative, mouse-controlled puzzle game that offers quite the challenge and has a very intricate storyline.

A tricky finale on "Spellcasting 101: Sorcerers Get All The Girls", a weird combination of absolute fun and total frustration.
I went island hopping in "Spellcasting 101: Sorcerers Get All The Girls" and boy, they surely do get them...
"The Dark Rites of Arkham" is another compelling thriller from @postmodernadv.bsky.social, blending Lovecraftian influence, retro-styled production and classic adventure gameplay into a beautifully eerie, wonderfully written murder mystery.

@postmodernadv.bsky.social's "The Dark Rites of Arkham" and @arumastudios.bsky.social's "Shadows of the Afterland", of course!
Good to hear, congrats!
Congrats, man! Zak is good, but yeah you need to know what to do perfectly.
Oh, good to hear that's still ongoing! I wishlisted that one almost three years ago but haven't really heard anything about it.
According to the weather reports we see from across the Atlantic, it sure seems on its way...
"Every free, prosperous civilization will eventually be destroyed by that small fraction of its people who find no satisfaction in anything but anger."
- Dean Koontz, "The Friend of the Family"
It was so awesome to meet you there, and listen to you talk. Just watched it again and it's still so recognizable. It's a persistent feeling...
Itβs not as open-ended as other narrative RPGs and lacks a believable ending, but "Rue Valley" has an appealing graphic novel aesthetic and engagingly human time-looping story that avoids becoming too repetitive or frustrating each time it resets.
NEW EPISODE! We're back! Matt is joined by Seoirse from @adventgamepod.bsky.social and @little-writer.bsky.social to talk about The Dagger of Amon-Ra!
