WALKING IS NOT EXERCISE; IT'S TRANSPORTATION. Maryland Policy Manager, @ggwash.org. Views are my own, insofar as anyone should want to take credit for them.

the #1 drawback to corridor based development is you subject a greater portion of the population to every single negative externality of cars

to be diplomatic, i think this should be very low on the list of metro's station improvements. want a cheap and easy way to improve rider experience? inflict some economy of language on those loquacious ass PIDs.

let your delegates and senator know: it's time to Bring Back Main Street ggwash.org/view/102510/...

I would say correcting for decades of biased and loaded planning language is an extremely reasonable take that not only helps to make communities more welcoming, but also communicates our priorities and needs more clearly

"Vacancy-chain research does not suggest new buildings can replace the type of deeply affordable housing that public subsidy enables. But the potential for market-rate construction to help even low-income renters is significant."

I am begging all of the NIMBYs out there to spend all of their time and energy opposing the Trump Ballroom instead of much-needed housing in our cities

πŸ“Š 92% of Maryland voters say home prices are a problem.

Two-thirds of Marylanders support the Starter and Silver Homes Act as a solution.

Baltimore County needs more apartments built. One councilman’s absence may be stalling them. Baltimore County Councilman Wade Kach said he regrets missing meetings, but added: β€œIf I thought for one minute that I was shortchanging my constituents in my district, I would resign.”

Baltimore County councilman delays housing project at train station until interested parties reach compromise. One of the groups is called "No Apartments No Compromise."
Nice to see media depict this as a stall and not as responsiveness to "community."

Silver Spring’s once and future urbanism A neglected retail strip on Georgia Avenue is a reminder that urbanism in suburbia is not new.

These buildings outside downtown Silver Spring, Maryland are a glimpse of a past that actually existed, and therefore of a possible future. They are so interesting because in them, you can see how the timeline split right around this period.

Maryland voters also support tenant protections, including stronger fire safety requirements, rent stabilization, good cause eviction, and ending breed bans in rentals. These can, and should, go hand-in-hand with more housing production! ggwash.org/view/102300/...

Maryland voters want solutions, and they like what Governor Wes Moore has proposed in his Housing Growth and Affordability Agenda–like making it easier to build duplexes and townhomes, as well as smaller single-family homes on smaller lots. ggwash.org/view/102300/...

@acornpark.bsky.social and I have been working on this project for a few months now and I'm stoked to share it with you! once again, Marylanders say housing prices are a problem and support reforms that the General Assembly is considering *right now*–

Once again, opposing housing near you is a fundamentally conservative proposition, and a lot of people on the broader left who share the thoughts in this video need to take some inventory of themselves.
