You know what works better than thoughts and prayers? A functioning government.
You know what works better than thoughts and prayers? A functioning government.
Itβs been said many times, but we must continue to repeat it:
You may not believe in Climate Change, but your insurance company does.
We should be angrier at the AI fetishists and techbros who have lied so diligently and loudly to the public that people believe that βAIβ can and should replace lawyers, doctors, teachers and more.
We should be enraged.
Tonight, Bill C-5 β the bill that allows the government to fast-track major projects it deems are in the βnational interestβ β became law.
No new amendments were added.
That is really, really bad:
Growing anti-immigration sentiment in Canada is almost entirely driven by political leaders. It is not a grassroots-up issue that leaders are begrudgingly responding to. Leaders are whipping up resentment against immigrants, out of nowhere
Mark Carney was asked whether the US strikes on Iran were a violation of international law. In response, he ignored the substance of the question and listed off a bunch of grievances the West has with Iran.
Itβs a shameful and cowardly response from someone who claims to defend international law.
Iran has not build nuclear weapons despite Netanyahu saying itβs on the verge for decades, and it agreed to and abided by the JCPOA.
Carney says Iran wants to wipe out Israel; rhetoric in response to the fact Israel is literally trying to wipe out the Palestinian people (as the West stands by).
Palestinians call them βdeath traps.β
Israel is shooting so many Palestinians at U.S.-run aid sites, theyβre now seen as massacre zones. People still go β because itβs the only way to get food. mondoweiss.net/2025/06/pale...
"if Albertans think they pay too many taxes, they might look to the revenue-rich oilpatch to help with the load. Last year, the contribution of Alberta taxpayers to the provincial coffers was $3 billion higher than bitumen royalties."
And that's a record profit year for producers...

βItβs very hard for non-Israelis to understand,β said Eran Etzion, a former deputy head of Israelβs National Security Council... βBut you need to think about Israel now β about Netanyahu and Netanyahuβs regime β like you think about Putin and Putinβs regime.β
And to be clear, even in the face of the hesitance of our leaders to take a firm stance against Israel and the fear of our media to be honest about Israeli actions in Gaza and the West Bank since Oct 7, 49% of Canadians believe Israel is committing a genocide. They can see it with their own eyes.
Canadian political leaders loving being next to Zelensky and giving condolences to Ukrainians after Russian attacks β and fair enough, no issue with that β but you rarely see them with Palestinian leaders or showing the same consistent empathy for Palestinians being slaughtered.
She's a master at taking a bad situation, and making it worse
She was arguably the worst premier in Alberta's history.
It's not debatable anymore.
With this she has opened up a huge lead.
This will not help patients. This will hurt patients. Everything she has done to health care has hurt!

Oh FUCK this.
We're not idiots. We know, from watching our neighbours to the south, exactly how this goes.
Stop it.

Clinging to Power by Pandering to the Fringe: A Memoir

But none of these fully capture the core of Smith's political soul.
That was laid bare in her justification for clearing a path for a referendum on sovereignty.
The answer: nakedness political ambition and partisanship.

Israeli settlers beat up Hamdan Ballal, one of the Palestinian co-directors of the documentary film No Other Land, in the occupied West Bank, according to witnesses. He was then detained by the Israeli military.

Three women stand holding protest signs at CUPE Alberta Convention. One sign reads "Very Mindful, Very Demure, Very CUPE." Another sign reads "If the UCP were a book we'd catalogue them in 364.132. To have Kevin OβLeary (blowhard quisling) and David Frum (GWB speech writer) βdebateβ whether itβs a good thing or bad thing to have the US annex Canada is such an epic failure of judgement and common sense from @ianhanomansing.bsky.social that I hope heβs fired tomorrow.
