Closure of the Strait of Hormuz due to U.S.-Israel-Iran conflict could impact Nebraska agriculture Iran borders the Strait, and the country has started attacking other regions around it, disrupting the ships navigating the waterway.

Farmers take another blow. A reminder that nitrogen fertilizer costs track oil prices in the best of times. This year the supply chain around the Strait of Hormuz is also crippled just as the growing season begins in northern US and Canada.

For the health and longevity of the tree, it's always good to remove almost all flowers until the tree is well established, then manage it for a light fruiting load until it has a stout scaffold of branches.

I wish that I'd attended! I used to live near the Farmington in the valley. When they renovated roads in the center of Avon, the archaeology teams thankfully preceded the heavy equipment.

Yes, landscapes supportive of biodiversity surrounding agricultural areas support diverse populations of pest predators and pollinators. Biodiversity in soil and surroundings generally increases crop productivity.

Agreed. Persistence of toxics in soil and water compromises our abundant food future. But precaution is not a feature of our regulatory system. Nor are health and environmental adverse effects regarded as the most important considerations when toxicants are reviewed for regulatory approval.
