Whatever else emerges in time about the Delta crash in Canada, one thing is certain: the importance & amazing professionalism of flight attendants who safely evacuated the plane in a matter of seconds.
You could even say it was a primary factor in globalization and the exchange of ideas and values across cultures. If you really wanted to go for broke, like real tinfoil hat stuff, you could even say that rendering air travel unsafe, both literally and by public perception, might be the point.
The value of this massive human achievement is not just flight itself of course but the systems that made it accessible, efficient, and safe to get where you wanted to go in this world.
Of all of the things I least anticipated being politicized and made hazardous from its governance being cut off at the knees, safe air travel is probably the farthest down the list. Mostly because of the vast value it has for capitalism.
