Blues singer John Hammond sitting on a motorcycle on the waterfront in Jersey City, with the New York skyline behind him.
I just heard that blues singer/guitarist John Hammond (son of the famous producer) died last week.
I don't know the details, but apparently he died in Jersey City. Coincidentally, where this 1964 album cover photo was taken.

This is a marvelous change not only for the Humpback whale ๐ population but for all of us. We need to keep our gentle giants from going extinct.

Even lesser Fellini is still pretty damn good. Giulietta Masina is wonderful, as always.

Apparently Elvis once flew from Memphis to Denver just to eat one.
I recently heard about this one:
How I arrived on Bluesky
Yeah, me too. I forgot how grim it is.
I love this song. Btw, do you know Al Stewart did a song about a femboy in 1967? It's called "Pretty Golden Hair" from his first album, Bedsitter Images.

A detail from a panel from a 1990 Peanuts comic strip showing Snoopy lying under a tree. He is thinking, โI like a book where thereโs only one character and nothing happens to him.โ

The script was terrible. Very heavy-handed.
Bennett Miller's Capote is one of my favorite biopics. I finally got around to watching Douglas McGrath's Infamous (which covers the exact same period) and God, I hated it! ๐คข๐คฎ

Charlie Chaplin as the Little Tramp
I'm thinking of doing a complete Chaplin re-watch, from Making a Living (1914) through A Countess from Hong Kong (1967). And simultaneously re-reading David Robinson's excellent book Chaplin: His Life and Art.
