Heads up, Joliet travelers! Overnight closures will be encountered in both directions on I-55 at I-80 beginning Monday, March 2 through Thursday, March 5. The closures are necessary to safely remove and install new steel beams on the I-80 bridges over the expressway. prez.ly/457d
The final phase of the I-80 project starts the week of March 2! Construction begins on the Chicago Street interchange (U.S. 52/IL 53). Work on the Des Plaines River bridges will begin this spring. The work is expected to wrap in 2028. prez.ly/v57d

Our crews will be out on the roads today and into the work week. While the storm will exit by Sunday, it may take additional time to clear the roads due to the extreme cold. We need your continued patience over the next few days as we work to ensure safe travel conditions.
With these bitter temperatures, the effectiveness of salt will be limited, making road conditions hazardous. Please avoid travel this weekend, especially in the southern regions. Overnight travel will be particularly treacherous.
