A day of two halves! Giving a very stern peace out after getting a PB at Norwich parkrun followed by heading down to Essex to finish off the Sunshine Coast Line!

New shoes on for Lowestoft parkrun this morning! Finally managed to break through the 40 minute mark with an official parkrun time of 39.59! Feeling really pleased with this and only one very short walking break on my second time going up the hill! #parkrun

LIVERPOOL AND MANCHESTER RAILWAY.-A long and in-teresting discussion took place at Liverpool, in Common Coun-eil, last week, on the subject of the intended railroad from that town to Manchester, the Council having been called upon, in compliance with the forms of the House of Commons, to express their assent to or dissent from the measure. A division at length took place, when there appeared for giving the assent 16, against it 14, so that the motion was carried by a majority of 2.
The Liverpool & Manchester railway, the world's first intercity line, opened in 1830. But how close did it come to not happening at all? If just two Liverpool councillors had voted differently in January 1826, it might never have been built - or least, could have been significantly delayed.
Also very interesting to note the use of the word 'railroad'. A lot of people see it as being purely an American term.
