Born out of necessity, I suggested that we can maybe make use of all the negative controls we sequenced and do selective decontamination. Stellar PhD student Stefany Ayala Montano then came up with a plan: Stop-Check-Go!

Was very interesting to see it's not the usual culprits - CL258/512, CL11, CL307 - but their own specific variants, ST39 and ST2621.
It took us some years, also thanks to pandemic delays, but we proudly present sequencing data for Klebsiella pneumoniae from Cape Town, investigating the spread of carbapenemase producing lineages through the hospital.
First paper of this year is out now! 📢
