I think these are good commitments and challenges with significance beyond (specifically) feminist theology too.

Somehow it makes the current @labouruk.bsky.social leadership's intentional cruelty towards refugees seem even worse when you consider that 10 years ago the minister in charge did indeed recognise refugees as human beings, visit them, show compassion, and support rational humane solutions.

Israeli map showing all of southern Lebanon in red with yellow arrows pointing to north of the Litani river

The IDF just ordered the *entirety of south Lebanon* to be forcibly displaced.

They are emptying the land of its population, creating a massive crisis, and will now proceed to further annihilate large parts of Lebanon.

The very nation state of Lebanon is being destroyed.

I saw this and at first thought "no, there's no way 'we definitely had alternative leadership in mind for Iran but I blew them up alongside the schoolgirls using AI' is what the White House is actually saying, that's too clueless and evil to be real"

Can’t believe I have to say this, but in no way are God’s plans served by slaughtering children. How Christianity relates to this situation is that Jesus made abundantly clear he suffers and dies with all other victims of empire

If you are part of a university or UK facing research organisation, publisher, funder, learned society and they are still posting on X - they're in a rather uncomfortable minority now. Perhaps point them to the eXit.

The first deaths announced from the US-Israeli strikes on Iran: dozens of school girls. They hit an elementary school in Hormozgan.

Starmer must withdraw permission for the US to use UK bases to launch airstrikes on Iran and parliament must be given a vote on any UK involvement.

The events of the past 48 hours have laid bare Keir Starmer's utter inability to stand up to Donald Trump - and this weakness could have serious consequences for the safety of British people.

And another new low. Helping the US commit war crimes. At least Blair had a pretext. God weeps and bleeds with the victims and all victims of violence.

This is yet another new low for this government. And as Gorton and Denton made undeniable, they’re not even doing it because they think it’s electorally useful, but because they want to.

DUCU’s analysis of employer’s recent response to the open local claim – Durham UCU

Here is @ducu.bsky.social β€˜s analysis of management’s most recent response to our request to negotiate. Management took extra time to deliver us a response that was a flat and unequivocal β€œno, we will negotiate NOTHING with you.”

Durham University staff start industrial action in workload row Durham University says the action, which could last for six months, is

It's ASOS time, everyone! We regularly hear from colleagues that they're working, to use a technical term, "silly hours"; way beyond what could be considered reasonable. It wasn't our first choice to end that via action short of strike, but it was clear SOMETHING needed to be done, so here we are.

I agree. I can’t believe Labour made up a fake tactical voting organisation & am just relieved it didn’t work. It wouldve given Stogia a tainted mandate & added to concerns abt Labour as anti-democratic (eg reducing protest rights, refusing real electoral reform, selecting loyalist candidates only).

Green Party wins Gorton and Denton by-election with Labour pushed into third by Reform Hannah Spencer, a 34-year-old plumber, also becomes the first Green Party candidate to win a Westminster by-election.

This is a good speech. It’s also fun to watch Matt Goodwin in the background, knowing all this and wondering if he might have been better off saying all this directly than deciding about eight years ago that it’s more politically realistic to scapegoat minorities for neoliberal capitalism’s harms.

"Deep in Admiration" was a talk given at the conference Anthropocene: Arts of Living on a Dangerous Planet at UC Santa Cruz in May 2014. The text appears as the foreword to the collection Late in the Day: Poems 2010-2014 (published by PM Press).

Our ballot returned another big mandate. I hope we won't have to use it and management do the right thing. There's still time to resolve this by simply stopping the victimisation of our colleague.

🚨 FIFTH consecutive vote for industrial action 🚨

πŸ”₯ Two week ballot window
πŸ”₯ 75% turnout
πŸ”₯ 73% YES to strike action
πŸ”₯ 81% YES to ASOS

Our members will not tolerate victimisation and won’t be intimidated.

UCU staff are not the enemy. It’s beyond time for the GS to talk to us.

All β€œLabour” have done is various failed attempts to continue that 14 years of austerity through benefit cuts to children, elderly, disabled people, cuts to healthcare services, cuts to aid, cancelling elections, etc, refusing to tax wealth or disrupt increasing inequality.

It’s my day job to channel and organise worker power. In my free time I sometimes do less constructive pursuits like arguing with people who think left-wing people should vote for a party at war with the left & trying (failing) to defeat the fascists by imitating them & starting their work for them
