Let's not slip into religious bigotry here. Jimmy Carter was a southern Baptist, wore his religion on his sleeve and never coerced anyone about it. He made one speech to staff to "get married, if you're living in sin". They all just shrugged. He went 'cool', moved on, and promoted human rights.
