Def not a Frank replacement but a more than adequate Glasgow replacement with decent upside. I like the move and the cost.
@kirktousaw
I helped legalize cannabis in Canada and won some precedent setting medical cannabis cases. Now I practice law in British Columbia and run a cannabis company called Great Gardener Farms. Dad and husband. Deadhead. Lions fan. He/him.
Def not a Frank replacement but a more than adequate Glasgow replacement with decent upside. I like the move and the cost.
Itβs about time someone said it out loud on a national news show.
Major Gen. Paul Eaton (ret.) β on Trumpβs interest in putting boots on the ground:
βWe have a situation where someone called a malignant narcissist is unfortunately drifting into a state of dementia that is difficult to manage.β
a bill to make 100,000 people do desperate survival crimes every day throughout the province seems like a not good plan, tara
Does he sign with another team and if so I expect it has to end up being a pay cut anyway. Wonder how hard they lowballed him. Itβs risky especially without any clear replacement on the roster.
Reminder that northern canada is extremely desolate but also filled with genuinely absurd fantasy terrain
Whenever conservative parties win, they typically try to see just how far to the right they can go before everyone turns on them. Whenever center-left parties win, they end up backing away from progressive policies and "moderating" in hopes of trying to appeal to people who didn't vote for them.
Labour is a warning for Democrats. If you don't stand for anything and are always just concerned about "swing voters," implementing a "light" version of conservative polices, you'll end up doing exactly this. bsky.app/profile/park...
She's pretty much the best Dem out there and I am certain that the party will do their very best to quash any chance that she runs in 2028 and will actively sabotage her, and therefore themselves, if she does.
We should refocus on defunding the police.
I wish some major media outlets would do broad reports on the impact of death threats on our politics, and on who's doing them (MAGA men mostly from what I can tell), and why law enforcement appears to be doing so little about them. They are such a big (submerged) part of our politics now.
AOC: If people like Kristi Noem, Kash Patel, and Pam Bondi violate the law, there are supposed to be consequences. These are people who call themselves law enforcement officers. The message theyβre sending is that they can cover up for pedophiles and street executions. That cannot be acceptable.
Detroit would love you have you. #Lions

Ban Polymarket.
Itβs immoral and will corrupt our foreign policy decisions and likely has already.
Police are given significant power. Basic accountability should not be controversial.
Re-upping this to encourage people to flip back and forth between the images, so you can see how much more VicPD is redacting compared to just one year before. They are withholding far, far more information than they used to, making it increasingly hard to subject them to scrutiny through FOI. #yyj
Just a random reminder that over 50 members of Congress collectively own millions of dollars in defense contractor stocks.
They stand to personally profit from wars that enrich these contractors.
Make no mistake, this is legalized corruption.
Watch how they vote this week.
I know its basically a trope at this point, but all we heard from corporate media and pundits for 4 years under Biden was how he was too old and mentally infirm to be President. Now with a legitimate mad king in decline? Crickets.
Cowardice and greed are the only real explanations.
Great column and exactly correct.
This statement is appallingly bad--like, the administration *illegally bombed a school.* It's mind-boggling to me for this to be the reaction from a human, much less a purported leader of the Democratic Party. I need a new senator stat
OCASIO-CORTEZ STATEMENT ON TRUMP'S COMBAT OPERATIONS IN IRAN "The American people are once again dragged into a war they did not want by a president who does not care about the long-term consequences of his actions. This war is unlawful. It is unnecessary. And it will be catastrophic. "Just this week, Iran and the United States were negotiating key measures that could have staved off war. The President walked away from these discussions and chose war instead.President Trump flippantly acknowledged the possibility of American casualties, stating "that often happens in war.' "Mr. President: this was not an inevitability. This is a deliberate choice of aggression when diplomacy and security were within reach. Stop lying to the American people. "Violence begets violence. We learned this lesson in Iraq. We learned this lesson in Afghanistan. And we are about to learn it again in Iran. Bombs have yet to create enduring democracies in the region and this will be no different. "In moments of war, our Constitution is unambiguous: Congress authorizes war. The President does not. I will do my part to uphold our Constitution by voting YES on Representatives Ro Khanna and Thomas Massie's War Powers Resolution. Every member of Congress must join us in rejecting this aimless war.

Compare AOC's statement to Schumer's. We desperately need to push out those ancient ineffectual Dems in charge.
FIFA feeling dumb right now eh?
Gross. The mad king said just a few months ago after his last unprovoked and illegal murder spree in Iran that heβd destroyed their nuclear capability for years.
Either you are a gullible fool or think Canadians are.
"The system's power comes not from its truth, but from everyone's willingness to perform as if it were true, and its fragility comes from the same source. When even one person stops performing, when the greengrocer removes his sign, the illusion begins to crack"
- Mark Carney
Canadaβs position remains clear: the Islamic Republic of Iran is the principal source of instability and terror throughout the Middle East, has one of the worldβs worst human rights records, and must never be allowed to obtain or develop nuclear weapons.
Carney already has his statement out justifying another breach of international law by the US and Israel.
Israel, not Iran, is the principle source of instability in the region, given its expansionist tendencies and apartheid system, backed by a superpower that keeps starting destabilizing wars.
Donβt have much to add on the many intl and domestic law issues with the Iran strikes. But Iβve been esp struck by allies circling the wagons to support them. Carney et al want to build a middle powers coalition nominally more wed to the intl rule of law. Now would be a nice time to stand up for it.
Absolutely gross statement from Carney. Canada should be condemning wars of aggression especially wars started by a bloodthirsty maniac for no good reason. This is terrible.
I'm begging my fellow politicians, Illinoisans, and Americans to realize that right now, we aren't fighting over policy or political party.
We're fighting over whether we're going to be a country rooted in empathy and kindness β or one rooted in cruelty and rage.
the party that wants to require ID to vote abruptly invalidating a thousand peopleβs IDs overnight seems like a pretty giant flashing red light
