Itβs like the domino theory, but in reverse.
Yeah, yeah. Exactly.

For those of you who ask: but WILL THERE BE SLIDES, I wonder a little why you're shouting, but yes, there will be 100 slides. I promise.
On March 10, I will once again tell the NSFW story of how, in 1991, I misused a word in a personals ad and upended everything I knew about empathy, sexuality, kink and desire. And Batman. Also: it's funny and strangely wholesome. Tix and more details here: www.eventbrite.com/e/3000-orgsm...
Dear Coward: No matter how happy you are with your very squishy messaging, the Baileys still hate you.

Ooh, wish I knew. Does Robert S Bader cover any of that in Four of the Three Musketeers?
About the Max Brothers and sound - their first film director, Robert Florey, couldn't stop laughing at their takes so they had to put him into a clear, sound-proof box to direct. The film is a teeny tiny bit static.
Glad you liked it. I was honored to lend them some stuff and I'm very happy with how many people have seen the show.
If anyone clicks on this, lmk. Substack says I consistently get zero visitors from Bluesky. The last one had 2000 individual readers, so I'd be surprised if none of them came from here.
New Substack post right here. open.substack.com/pub/glendavi...
Goddamnit. His work was wonderful. I reviewed SILENT ECHOES for the LA Times because his obsessions were so fruitful and interesting. I didnβt know he was sick. RIP.
Always interesting to see which websites other than the one you gave false info to suddenly start relying on it when wishing you a happy 10% off birthday.
I feel mocked. π©
(Teeny tiny parallel between yourself and Houdini. Thank you.)
I don't know how widely-known this is, but in 1924, Scientific American was ready declare Spiritualism had a scientific basis and was real. Houdini went berserk and proved them wrong. www.smithsonianmag.com/history/for-...
I'm reminded how Houdini was enraged when the nincompoops at Scientific American drafted an article declaring spiritualism was real.
Not quite sure who, given the NYT passive voice of authority, compared her to Mamdani, but Iβm thrilled sheβs running. Karen Bass is a bad mayor.
This essay is absolutely devastating.
I have nothing better to add but just wanted to get a 3 of 5 tshirt or hoodie if you're making them.
My next door neighbor is in some upcoming episodes. (This is what happens when you live in L.A.) I'd try to get him to spill, but he's a vault.
This genuinely made me laugh out loud.
I have seen the shape of his head, up close. He might be onto something.
For most of my life I couldn't figure out why some people couldn't see how majestic and special some animals (lions, wolves, pick your favorite) are. Now I understand: they DO see, and that's why they want to kill them. It's enraging.
Thanks for being there for the rest of us.
I only have a rube's understanding of the word "neoliberal" but Newsom's instincts reminds me of Bill Clinton's - he figures out what progressive values can be jettisoned and still get elected.
If you're going all-out, you might want to give up that lucrative second career calling square-dances, too.
You might have to be from L.A. to get it (I'm from L.A.)
Whoops - *is and *strong - the danger of typing while sitting in the dentist's chair.
This is a great piece - framing the current violence as weakness it something I hadnβt thought of. And it makes the capitulation of some corporations, universities, politicians and other institutions even more disappointing. The string being controlled by the weak.
I'm pretty sure you can run with "Al Capp, only worse" even if you didn't know him.
