As many problems as I had with Metroid Prime 4 the soundtrack was not one of them

I wanted to get into the Nier games so I'm starting Drakengard!

Plus the level design was extremely linear, there was no real exploration outside of the desert.

But it felt like every time a mood was established or you had an internal monologue going, these new NPCs wouldn't stop quipping or giving you the solution to a puzzle you never got the chance to solve.

So yeah, Metroid Prime 4 was honestly pretty disappointing. The environment design was wonderful and it had a really strong art direction, and it could really deliver on the atmosphere at times. I was really invested in Viewros and the Lamorn story.

So, like, what was the deal with Sylux? He kinda just shows up, wrecks what's left of Viewros, and gets angry at Samus. Was he just really pissed at what happened in the DS game?

Apparently, scans dont carry over if you die in Metroid Prime 4, so I missed the one boss that was missable, even though I did actually scan it. That sucks, that means it's the only Metroid Prime game I didn't 100% and missed the secret ending...

Google's process for getting things on their store has gotten way more strict since I first published this in 2020. It's taken months, but it's finally been approved and should be back up on Tuesday!

Still loving the visuals and atmosphere in Metroid Prime 4, but I think the NPCs are officially annoying. The level design's pretty disappointing too.

First fight with Sylux was cool, but I'm trying to remember what he actually did in Hunters. I thought he was just one of the six bounty hunters, did I forget something noteworthy he did in that game or did they just decide to promote this one guy to main villain here?

And a Hyrule Field, they gave Samus a Hyrule Field

Okay I got to the Myles part and what's almost as baffling as his inclusion in the first place is the placement. Like up until this point the game is doing such a great job at setting this wonderful atmosphere and buildup, and suddenly this guy shows up and starts quipping.

I've at last started Metroid Prime 4!!
Initial thoughts:
Wow, this game is pretty.
Since when can Metroids do THAT?
Wii Sensor Bar aiming is still unrivaled

The original definitely has the biggest barrier to entry but also has a kind of unique horror-like tone the remakes don't really capture. AM2R is basically "What if Metroid II was Super Metroid" and Samus Returns is a great modern Metroid game but a bad remake.

I wanted to do M10 with my PS2 controller for authenticity but Windows 11 doesn't like it
