I somehow managed to resist from buying it immediately. I walked through the whole store before I collapsed for this duckerfly. It's so gorgeous.
A silver ring shaped like a duck with a precious stone in the middle with turquoise and brown "feathers". The wings shape around the knuckle
I saw this at the antique store and gifted it to myself. The lady at the counter said she loves this butterfly ring and was happy it would have a good home. It was all I could do to not say "fowlse!"
And that's why you're the bat whisperer!
This is how I imagine you in this situation.

I'm in an all pink PJ and robe set. I have my hair up in a messy bun. I am a horror author.
Dress for the job you want...
My debut novella, THE NIGHT BEGINS, has been getting a lot of 5 stars lately. My newest book, MARYNEAL 1962, could do with that same love. Especially since early reviews have compared it to Shirley Jackson.

#HorrorWritersChat Check out Unfold, a slow burn workplace creature feature. There are unique monsters, Succession-like drama, and soooo much gore in the third act. Support a small business and get me the most royalties by buying a copy from my publisher.

#HorrorWritersChat in the mood for something Gothic this spring? How about a story about a maid who goes to work for a mad scientist? Think Frankenstein and Crimson Peak had a baby together. Available in paperback, ebook and audio book.

Cover of Revolve by Kimberly Davis Basso (horror shorts, Door Volume II). Inverted glass marble reflecting an inverted wave on a beach in shades of blue. Cover of Next Door by Kimberly Davis Basso underwater infinity door with a woman swimming up towards the surface. The words Welcome to the Neighborhood float above the waves.
Thanks Erin! Since weβre talking wildlife today, my collection Next Door has tentacled terrors and earwigs by the thousands, and Revolve includes many critters in those stories, like the lovely, meaty snails I mentioned. πππ.

Full cover of A Fragile Thing. Back is black and white version of front. Front shows a caped figure walking away from view against a backdrop of tall gothic buildings. A golden glow from lights spill out against the dark night. Blurb on back: Victorian London. Isaac Bercow is a man with great aspirations, nothing to lose, and an offer he can't refuse. Determined to make society notice - and believe in - his powers of mesmerism, Isaac finds himself caught in a trap of deceit, danger, and diabolical dealings. The mind is a fragile thing, and fragile things are easily broken.
Thank you! This was fun, even with the slugs π

Phengaris, surrounded by a symmetrical pattern of butterflies and beetles
Thanks, Eryn. LOVED this topic.
Phengaris, takes its title from a very innocuous little blue butterfly, which parasitizes ants in a fiendishly inventive way.
A great deal of the horror is about arthropods, but also the ways humans can parasitism each other. #HorrorWritersChat

Thanks for the host! I always love your questions!
A butterfly landed on her shoulder. Right blue and beautiful. It's proboscis tickled her neck as it went searching for the floral scent upon her skin. Then deeper and deeper until it hit the vein and there was nothing left of her.
