I hope your surgery isn't major.
I hope your surgery isn't major.
I realised I'm avoiding working on this project because the NPC AI logic is overwhelming. Therefore, I'm going to work on the character and scene design instead.
I've said it in public. I have to do it now.
No frustration *at all*. Take your time.
I copied what you did with Minesweeper and both my game and yours have the same bug.
It looks like I can create the sfx but I can't play it when it's preloaded.
One small error...
I'm getting this.
Hey @assertchris.io have you been working on @floaty.dev recently?
I think I'll end up using Beehave for the NPCs, but I'm very tempted by the perceived randomness of GOAP. I just don't think I could implement it without lots of research. And I don't have the time nor patience to do that without losing interest in this project. So, a behaviour tree it is for now.
I added a day and night cycle. I will expand on it to add seasons as well before I settle on a UI. That way I know for certain that I've got time of day and season/weather to take into consideration when designing assets.
I don't have any that I need you to recreate. Thanks.
I just found BitBrain's day and night cycle tutorial. I'm going to follow along and add it to the game.
An invitation should be in your inbox now. I've also decided to work on this in public github.com/sandcastlega...
It would be nice to get some site-side navigation, if possible.
As an experienced developer I'm more interested in seeing what comes from the engine. Albeit I appreciate you wanting to be inclusive of less experienced developers.
The native JavaScript stuff is nice to have as it emphasises how barebones the engine is. However, I suggest splitting the native JavaScript stuff into its own section on the page.
I'll fire up Godot this evening. Expect an invitation to a mightily empty project soon after ๐
Complete with 2D animals and plants that they interact with.
I want to make a non-game game. It's just a 2D world of NPCs going about their lives. You don't have any influence over them.
I'll take a look this evening.
I love it. You cover a lot of the bits I struggled with initially.
I wanted to reach out and see how you're doing. I'm glad you're still finding time to work on Floaty.
@floaty.dev we need to make you a nice logo.
Probably not along the same line as packagist.org/packages/roa... ๐
Developers could import additional object types which extend this base game object to provide behaviours like kinetic bodies.
Also, I'm wondering whether floaty could provide a game object class to extend which can be registered within the engine and then auto-init, auto-update, and auto-draw.
That's the code generated by Livewire.
Screenshot of a JavaScript function called transitionOut with an early return statement.
@assertchris.io I've been playing with floaty.dev trying to recreate Breakout. It looks like the assets designer has a bug. Potentially an unintended early return?
Exciting stuff. Unfortunately, I got a 500 error when I signed up. My credentials were stored but I can't log in.
Would it be possible to have right click on the mouse be a shortcut for erase?
Shared assets is a cool idea. I was wondering how to create my own after seeing your Shmup demo.
Lol I thought that was a challenge
