I lost my pug Frankie at age 10 when he was being put under for a dental cleaning (that’s why I have Bebe) so this is pretty scary. Hopefully I can get her into better shape for anesthesia in the near future. The vet tech said they’re very careful with brachycephalic dogs.
Thankfully her dental abscess is resolving nicely. This buys her time to lose weight. When I brought her in as an emergency drop-off they told me a lot of her teeth needed to go. Now they’re saying it might only be 3 extractions. I hope so! They’ll clean her remaining teeth.
Bebe is on a ½ cup twice daily diet now (plus shredded chicken I hide her meds in 🤫). The vet tech said she could come in for a bicavitary ultrasound for a more definitive picture of her health when their specialist is back later this month. That’s $899.50. 🫣
The vet tech called me yesterday evening to discuss Bebe’s X-rays. She weighs 24 lbs. and absolutely must lose weight before she undergoes anesthesia. She has fat around her chest cavity. I’ve been fighting with my mom about overfeeding her for literal years. No more.
