Some parents would like to see their kids' and their kids' families' identities reflected in age-appropriate films, but I guess those parents can eat rocks.

That's an awfully good argument. I mean, it's preaching to the choir for me to say that, but still. Awfully good.
Harper to the judge: "Your driver's license doesn't list your height and weight at birth. It doesn't list where you used to live. It identifies who you are now."
Whats a fun fact about computers that isn't secretly not-fun?
All things being equal, any computer can run any program. There are practical limits once you put an I/O and operating system on it, but in the abstract, there's no limit to what tasks you can put them to as long as it can be "reduced" to 1's and 0's.
Without a genuine fondness and gratitude toward the magic of what people can use the computer to do, my criticism of the tech industry would be empty. The tech industry's problem is that it's not often about making good software that does useful things.

Despite the algorithmic parts, we live in an era of unrivaled connectivity and community when we have already made those bonds. It is possible to call a great of people in a great deal of places and have a clear conversation or share or receive data. The enemy wants to get in the way of you doing so
The difference between hitting military targets and civilian ones is so stark and no one in Western media is even mentioning it

A big part of *why* we're still using oil as our main source of energy is *because* it's a physical substance that can be hoarded.
Yeah, I think we knew this at the time. They *HATE* public transit. Not even coherently. They viscerally hate it. The way that teenagers would call it the "looser cruiser."
I would argue they knew exactly what they were doing, which was deliberately sabotaging needed public works programs by offering snake oil they never had any intention of delivering.
Thank you. Well said. This is exactly it.
There is a kind of wilfully credulous self-described pseudo-expert who's so buried in the bullshit that it becomes the air they breathe. Their ideology says, "rich man = good," and they can't see the obvious, which in this case is "deluded man = dangerous."
It is an existential imperative that we begin a serious global dialogue about how βexpertsβ as the media uses the term, consistently lag behind us laymen when it comes to Knowing Some Bullshit When We See It.
IF Gavin Newsom is on a ballot
THEN me and many others will refuse to vote for him
THEREFORE instead of bitching at me and others like me
YOU should take the *years* you have and make sure that doesn't happen if you actually fucking care
BECAUSE my position is immutable
a four-panel stick-figure cartoon panel one: three standing figures. from left to right, a guy wearing a necktie looking at his phone, an angry MAGA guy yelling FUCK YOUR FUCKIN POST FUCK YOU FUCK YOU FUCK YOU, and a rando just standing there like an NPC. panel two: the guy looking at his phone shows MAGA guy his hand, causing MAGA to vanish. the word Block hangs in the air where fuckface once was. a green-bordered in-game message appears, reading "+2 Mental Health." now the rando is suddenly interested. panel three: as our man continues doom-scrolling, a sly grin on his face, the rando on the right puts on a punch-me face and snarls: "Typical lefty, blocking everyone who disagrees with-" panel four phone guy shows the hand to punch-me face, causing the rando to vanish. the word Block hangs in the air where that dickhead was. a green-bordered in-game message appears again, reading "+2 Mental Health."
How are we still reporting like it's something we didn't know two years ago?
Anderson Cooper: βSo it's more expensive to have a chronically homeless person living on the streets than it is to actually subsidize an apartment for them?β
Answer: βYes, weβre paying more as taxpayers to walk past that person on the street and do nothing.β #HousingFirst #UrbanTruth
Let me translate this bullshit: "A vibe-coder's instructions were unclear, and the AI dragged hallucinated library names into the codebase that resulted in compromised code being deployed."

All the "save the kids" stuff is merely the go-to excuse they've been using for decades so that governments can pretend they're not just captured by the corporations they're supposed to police. They're enablers.
Every year, I get 2mm closer to being anarchist.
See, MS and Apple *already* check everyone's ID bc they demand credit cards. Linux is the next biggest OS, and it does not bc Open Source. What better way to kill it than require legality of its *creators* that they can't possibly meet so that any of them that want to be legit are simply screwed?
True. But enforceability isn't IMO the point. The point is to cement MS's, and to a lesser degree Apple's, position. This is classic state-enabled monopoly. They did it with the Comics Code back in the 50s...
anyway switching to linux was surprisingly easy and yes there are some workflow adjustments to be made but overall the experience has been pretty good so far
I mean... yeah. That's what they are.
Itβs safe to ignore anyone who brags about their IQ online
βThe videos shown to the data annotators also go further, including credit card details and sexual acts. While some footage certainly could've been filmed on purpose by the user, it's thought that many instances were caught without the user or the video's subjects being fully aware.β
Make up your own mind, but this article says: not pro-Trump.

Oh shit.
See, I didn't know that.
Ugh.
I'm new to anarchism as a philosophy, and I'm only barely tangentially ~kinda~ an activist, but I think you're right. "Spontaneous organization" is a lot like Marxist revolution. It's predictable that people will organize themselves it. It's what we do. But it doesn't happen *by* itself.
