This is not a time to despair of the Church; this is the time to recommit anew to a stronger and wiser Church that does not hide behind legal formularies or fear of honest disagreement. We believe a more representative Synod will be a place in which the question of same-sex marriage as a whole, regrettably foreclosed early in the LLF process, will become once again a live debate as we strive to follow the
God whose love is without limit.

Pleased to see this open letter from Together in response to the House of Bishops deciding, again, not to decide.

It is time for same-sex marriage to be legal in the Church of England and the bishops have decided the next elections will be fought on that issue.

I am attached to the BBC, despite its faults, since it is almost the only media not owned by billionaires.
I think we should cling on to our public broadcaster and not leave the field totally in the hands of oligarchs.

Twenty little black and white cycling line drawings, as follows:
It’ll be worth it / great view from the top (person cycling up a hill).
Bike shed - caption 'Room for another one?'
This machine fights climate change (bicycle).
'Slow and steady wins the race'. Picture of person on upright bike.
Bike helmet with 'A safe route would be even better' written on it.
People cycling helps drivers, showing how cycling removes one car from the queue in front of you.
Cargo bike (yes you can). Picture of cargo bike carrying washing machine.
Ding dong. Bike bell. (Cyclists: Pass pedestrians with care).
Cycling helps the NHS, written inside a heart.
There’s a bike for almost everyone, showing an adapted cycle.
Give us space - thank you. Diagram showing safe passing distance.
VIP transport (Very Important Pet). Pet in bike basket.
Picture of person on bike with caption 'Pays the same taxes you do'.
Folding bike picture, showing how they open up possibilities. Car boot, under your desk, on a train.
Take care please. Picture showing family on bikes ('could be your family') with car behind.
This week’s shopping, arrows pointing at shopping on bike.
E-bikes aren’t cheating. Picture of bike going up hill.
'Largely fuelled by cake', written on a piece of cake with bicycle topper.
Where there’s a road let's make a safe bike route too. Shows bike route next to road.
'Have fun out there'. Two cyclists and a sign saying 'adventure', pointing in the direction they are going.

You couldn’t make this up: Church Times brilliantly juxtaposes bishops’ rejection of blessings for same sex couples with two of them blessing the River Thames

For Palestinians being killed and the future of human rights, we must keep calling out our Government’s complicity in this genocide.

The UK has now issued more new arms licences than it pitifully suspended last year.

Israel's violation of international law is our violation of internationalΒ law.

Labour backs release of beavers in new front against farmers Campaigners fear dams created by the animals will cause flooding of fields used to grow crops and damage trees

As the Daily Mail reports today, beavers protect farmland from flooding. But the Telegraph reports wild beaver release as β€˜a new front against farmers.’ Once again attacking natural solutions.

Annaliese Dodds has made a principled decision to step down from her role following Starmer's move to cut foreign aid to fund defence spending.

Like her, I believe withdrawing from humanitarian commitments is both cruel, counterproductive, and short-sighted.
