Not sure if I'm in a cult, but I have followed Numan's work since the start. The double remix album 'Hybrid' (2003) shows a harder and 'rockier' side to the work.

Unfortunately, our own guitarist passed a few years back; but lots of happy memories.
Free were such a great band... and Kossoff a tragic loss at only 25. We used to play a cover of this as part of our set (little pub band), around 50 years ago!
Well done @keithbrymerjones.bsky.social Rich, SiobhΓ‘n, Princess & crew for another great @potterythrow.bsky.social series; and of course, all the potters. Hopefully, another celebrity special at some point, to break up the wait for the next series.
Had my own Joe Swash moment many years back!π

Refused to watch with Mordaunt on the bill. Fortunately, Vittorio tore her to pieces, by all accounts.
Wonderful
Dame Imelda Staunton is a National treasure in the UK, and deservedly so; as is her husband Jim Carter (best known for playing the butler Mr Carson in Downton Abbey).
Saw this on release, way back then. It was a wonder to a young boy ... and it was on UK TV a few days back .... and I watched it again, for the umpteenth time!
'Let it be' was released #OTD in 1970. It was written and sung by Paul McCartney, and credited to the LennonβMcCartney partnership. Lennon disavowed any ownership in a later interview.
It made Number 1 in numerous countries, but was kept at Number 2 in the UK by Lee Marvin's "Wand'rin' Star".
Great actor, well known for military roles. He served in WWII himself, up to the rank of Major.
Ice Cold in Alex (1958) and The Hill (1965) are the standouts IMHO.
A very complex individual and one of the most important American artists of the C20th. I used her work quite a bit in my teaching career. There are some great examples of her work in the MET NYC.

That reminded me of this story, from a couple of years back. My parents emigrated from IRE-UK in the late 50's.

David Niven in the great 'A Matter of Life and Death', from the incredible partnership of Michael Powell and Emeric Pressburger. One of my favourite films from that post war period.
Still have mine and play it through a speaker dock in my garden studio.
The sound of my youth, and one of the best pop songs ever written.
A beautiful night of singing, guitar, & reminiscences from @lylelovett.bsky.social & John Hiatt ended with just a hint of resistance: Woody Guthrieβs βThis Land is Your Land.β Perfect.
(Note to Bluesky leaders: I know you guys are young, but ffs, give Mr. Lovett a blue check!)
Thankfully, 8 miles; as opposed to 500 and 500 more! π
Oh yes. Happy Birthday #Proclaimers
'When I wake up, well I know I'm gonna be .....' seeing The Proclaimers again in November. Always great live, especially with everyone invited to join in the chorus.
I got a couple of large blow up's on acrylic of Scottish Loch's, for our living room. It reminds us (Scottish wife) of trips up there.
It's good to see there is still a (small) portion of the British press who call things as they are, instead of lauding incompetent, divisive right-wingers.
Still a great live act.
Great photo's. What a memory.
One of my great uncle's trained as a priest in Ireland, emigrated and helped found a parish church in California. He served there for many years. I think my mum had an old newspaper clip of him somewhere. (Fr. Patrick Curran, b. Galway 1896).
Saw that on release, and on a big screen. Kurosawa was the very definition of an artist in film; with a shout out to his cinematographers Takao SaitΕ and ShΕji Ueda.
Lots of great stuff in that film, and on the soundtrack album. Bought it back then. It's got The Cramps 'Tear It Up' and so much more powerful and eclectic stuff.
Not sure I could get past seeing that original Jack Pierce makeup on Boris Karloff in the 1931 version. A bit hammy now, but pretty scary to a young kid sneaking a look at late night, old films...
However, the @realgdt.bsky.social Frankenstein is a tour de force amongst the modern versions.

Forbidden Planet film poster
Just noticed people posting that Forbidden Planet is 70 years old!
Itβs basically Shakespeareβs βThe Tempestβ, in space, and a great, hammy sci-fi classic.
