It’s no secret that tackling our housing affordability crisis is one of my top priorities. And last year, you agreed: residents rated the cost of housing as their top concern in the Joint Venture Silicon Valley poll. Stay tuned for my plans to accelerate housing production & bring vibrancy downtown!

We talked to business owners who said they had all time sale records during the Super Bowl. We want to build on that and keep giving folks reasons to come downtown.

That means improving on late night safety during special events β€” and beyond. It’s not just visitors that deserve a safe downtown.

Incidents like this one are rare here in the safest big city in America, and that’s thanks to our law enforcement and first responders. I’m grateful for their ability to act quickly and bravely to contain a dangerous situation and protect the folks who live and work in our downtown.

Sharks know just how important healthy teeth are to growing up strong, especially S.J. Sharkie! San José’s favorite fish and the Sharks Community joined us at Lowell Elementary for a dental screening with the Healthier Kids Foundation β€” along with a $40,000 grant for their Dental First program. 🦈

Silence is complicity and it falls upon all of us, especially those of us in power, to call this out for what it was and take action to defend our communities. I’m proud that San JosΓ© has passed policies to keep all our neighbors safe from ICE, regardless of where they’re from. (2/3)
