For now this is just one poll. But if this trend continues the current FPTP voting system makes no sense anymore.

If you add the SNP and Plaid Cymru to the mix we might end up with a completely random result at the next elections. Which will undermine trust in the U.K. democracy even further.

Labour have alienated the voters they had on the left, and failed to win over any of the voters they have courted on the right. Now their core appeal is all but gone and ever growing numbers of voters have exit options on the left, right and in the centre.

I’m seeing takes talking about ‘the centre ground is gone’ etc, and I don’t think that’s accurate - voters haven’t changed their motivations, the major parties have just failed to cater to them. Those people who voted green would’ve voted Labour had Labour not been too busy flirting with the right.

FVD blijft voortbouwen op de valse premisse dat een regering moties (letterlijk: uitspraken) van de Tweede Kamer altijd zou moeten uitvoeren. Zo werkt de eigenstandige rol van regering en parlement niet (behalve via de vertrouwensregel).

Lots of work uses agree-disagree scales, and a lit review shows these are 1) frequently just measured in one direction (agree = higher trait) and 2) correlated with each other.

This has potentially big issues for conclusions.

Far-right authoritarian tactics to socially marginalize, intimidate, and disenfranchise a group. The oppression of one group signals to others you could be next. This goes far beyond bigotry. The authoritarian playbook enabled and empowered by anti-trans and anti-woke actors.

For those following along, some thoughts on Thurner et al.'s reply to our critique to their "connectivity causes polarization" claim. At first sight, this looks like a solid rejoinder, perhaps even justifying the mildly sarcastic tone. Upon closer inspection, not so much. So, another thread... 1/

De voorspelbare keus van Wilders heeft niets te maken met een parlement dat van zich af bijt tegenover de regering die het ter verantwoording kan houden, een zogeheten 'werkend parlement'.
Het is een steeds botter instrument voor partijprofilering, tekenend voor een 'pratend parlement' als arena.

De motie van wantrouwen is sinds 2002 steeds vaker ingezet. Het zal niemand verbazen: vooral door de PVV (of eerder door groep-Wilders), daarna op forse afstand SP. En daarna oa DENK, FVD, en Van Haga.
De laatste keer dat een echte motie van wantrouwen een meerderheid haalde, was in 1939.

En dit blijft toch ook een merkwaardige vorm. Pas als je op het stuk klikt, lees je dat die zogenaamde successen overdreven of verzonnen zijn. Intussen is dit het beeld waar een groot deel van Nederland mee wakker wordt.
