had a great time at the fundraiser for my friend @evanbrown4thetown.bsky.social ! was nice to meet new people in the community, see old friends I haven't seen in years, and receive stacks of envelopes of donations supporting Evan's move into local politics <3
On it! She’s busy during the day but I’m seeing her tonight
Loved meeting Justice Lisa Holder-White this Monday. She delivered an incredible keynote speech. Also pictured is my running mate Bernadette Gordon
I completely agree and I’ve been emphasizing this to other activists
She gets a lot of heat from fellow progressives but can’t tell you how cool I think it is to be mentioned in the same sentence. Major inspiration. Much love!!
👏🏻🫡
I’m a panelist for this event tomorrow. Come thru
Getting @evanbrown4thetown.bsky.social and other Democrats elected in Springfield, IL and across the country, pack Democrats into all offices, push DA 2037 (Democrat Agenda 2037), and push redistricting efforts across the US.
Also personal to my mission is my own family connection to justice in America.
My ancestor was John Brown. The first man hung for treason in America. He fought against the atrocities of slavery with a sword and gun. I am carrying his radical legacy with me every step of my journey.
I stressed to her that we have an obligation to go around the SCB to be as effective as possible. We are exploring ways to have AG Kwame Raoul's office issue an opinion on our proposed amendment.
We can't allow partisan hacks control how our community responds to the murder of #SonyaMassey
I had a very productive and candid conversation with #MasseyCommission Co-chair Joanne Johnson y'day.
As you may know, the Sangamon County Board is highly partisan and the Repub majority has rejected one of our first recommendations, which would support recall elections for office of Sheriff.
I’m running in the upcoming #SpringfieldIL Municipal Elections for Capital Township Trustee. Part of our movement after Sonya Massey’s inexcusable murder is geared towards flipping a bunch of seats at every level of government. We need representation that honors the needs of the *whole* community.
Thanks for the shoutout, sir! Talk soon
"If a journalist calmly and truthfully explaining the problems with an industry or the problems of a company, with no embellishment, just explaining what the problem is directly to camera, comes off as a threat or comes off as a motive, then perhaps that industry is the problem."
I will be posting more regular updates regarding my work on the #MasseyCommission here, as well as my interactions with local politics. Here in Springfield, things have been more chaotic and disheartening than ever since Sonya’s murder. I continue to fight.
