If you are running into issues using Shopify color filters on color values coming from metafields/metaobjects, add a '| append:""' before using your color filter. Thanks to Paul Newton in this Shopify forum post for the tip!

Thanks for the recco!
I missed all the sales this past weekend, but any suggestions for good winter boots? It's snowing hard here in Ontario and I need to order a pair.
Merchants highly value this app for improving website functionality and aesthetics, which helps boost conversion rates. It offers affordable, customizable templates and sections that are easy to use and update, with a user-friendly interface suitable for all skill levels. The app allows for custom CSS and custom block requests. It is noted for its performance and reliability, often compared favorably to Shopify's stability. Customer support, particularly from staff members Anne and Trudy, is exceptional, providing responsive, personalized assistance that enhances merchant satisfaction and loyalty.
We did it!! We finally got a little AI snippet that describes Design Packs on Shopify (when you reach over 100 reviews, this appears on your app listing) New achievement level unlocked!
Mastermind inspired this post btw. They were running a heavily customized version of Turbo last Xmas, but now it looks different. I spy some tailwind classes for sure, but I'm actually still seeing some original Turbo references. So now I'm very intrigued.
The problem with me doing my shopping online is that I get totally distracted trying to figure out what Shopify theme they are using or if it's fully custom.
Deep dive into the source code and then belatedly realizing I should be buying toys for the nieces and nephews.
I knew we connected on many levels! Not a great thing to have in common, but if you ever want to commiserate... I'm here.
Working on some cool things for Design Packs for 2025, not only are we overhauling the ENTIRE app, but we're also working on tweaking and refining all of our animations for our sections. I'm happier than ever to be fully immersed in all things front-end. viva la css!
The difference in how motivated/ energized I feel coming out of my luteal phase is DRASTIC. And once again, I am faced with the thought of "damn, what could I do if I just felt like this all the time?" But instead I face a solid two weeks of being under a cloud every month.
I knew it! And of course I read it, because taking advice from you has never steered me wrong.
Now I need to knock on some wood...
Posting daily here is way easier than LinkedIn. And absolutely no deep revelations required.
Pretty sure I learned about you and your book from @wesbos.com
Super jazzed to be following more CSS content - I've been living in the Shopify/ecommerce bubble for tooooo long.
Heck yes - the more complicated the better. Hidden cursors, animated buttons to nowhere? What a terrible, glorious time.
Hoping for some horse-related content on here. ๐
Helllooooo!! @ilanadavis.com has a Shopify starter pack, but I have no idea how to link it. Should be visible on her account though. :)
Absolutely! I used to work for a really cool agency and there is SOOO much you can do. I'm now in ecommerce land and the UX relies a lot more on patterns (ahem.. bit more boring), but this is inspiring me to get more experimental and try some new styles!
This makes me want to dig up all my old ActionScript projects. Man, I built so many flash loading screens back in the day. Oh and all the leaderboard/big box ads... and games! So many fun games!
As an Art History major, I would love to see more of this in web design.
Hm, I see what you mean. Divide and conquer. I think I'll stick to reading articles about the VC/funding experience for now.
Yeah, it's pretty cool to be able to make decisions and see what the consequences are without having to run it past a board or a boss. I've seen the amount of schmoozing and politics required as well and it doesn't appeal to me at all at the moment. Who knows in the future though.
Do you think it's helpful to compare yourself to others with funding? I recently had someone compare our bootstrapped app to one that had over 7 million in funding and a team of over 20 people. I get envious of how fast they can move and the scale I suppose, but we want to stick with bootstrapping.
Immediately followed everybody! I've been in tech since 2008 and would love to be added if possible. :)
I'm actually loving Blue Sky because often there aren't any fresh updates and I just close the page, which is a great thing. I really hope they don't adopt the addicting slot machine UX like a lot of other apps.
Right? I immediately called one of my fellow Bravo buddies and left her a long and overly loud voicemail at 7am.
Just learned that one of the former Real Housewives of Beverly Hills is using our Design Packs app (design-packs.com) on their Shopify store.
Today is a GOOD day!
@henrihelvetica.bsky.social is such an excellent MC - I've watched him wrangle many a panel in Toronto!
Biggest revelation so far on Blue Sky is that I'm feeling more comfortable being vulnerable here (a feeling I haven't had on the old app in years)
I'm getting most of my Shopify updates and news from @trpage.bsky.social's posts on LinkedIn these days (which is also another app, but not as evil as the other one)
