Native Americans have worked hard for decades to counter the stereotypes perpetuated in old movies and television shows about the American West. Now a new generation of Native technology experts worry that artificial intelligence is eroding that work.
The "predictions that capitalism would be unable even to maintain its existing lacklustre efforts towards reducing carbon emissions are worth returning to. Because that feverish anarchist, ranting about capitalism’s follies, was pretty much spot on."

ChatGPT’s signature writing style is everywhere now, and I hate it. It reminds me of when we tried mixing all the beverages at the soda fountain in middle school. We didn’t actually create the perfect drink, we just made a cloying monstrosity that lost everything good about its constituent parts.

Yesterday my partner and I counted all the ads along Chicago's Brown Line for "Friend," a company selling an AI chatbot pendant, and tallied how many of those ads were defaced.
Still working on a longer piece on this, but here's the quick and dirty: we counted 104 "Friend" ads total, 42 defaced.
I haven't. Ricardo would have been around Mazatec in his early youth but his family moved him when young to study in Mexico City. His work with Indigenous comrades carried their principles of autonomy and working communal land in solidarity into ongoing (inter)national movements. ¡Tierra y Libertad!
Yeah that sounds best. I've not been able to find anything on Teodoro's parents. I see this kind of description in some sources "mestizo avecindado entre indígenas mazatecos" 'mestizo living among Mazatec indigenous people' web.archive.org/web/20090205...
"Jesús, Ricardo y Enrique fueron hijos del teniente coronel Teodoro Flores (1829-1883), originario de Mazatlán de las Flores, Oaxaca" '"[J, R, and E] were the sons of Lieutenant Colonel Teodoro Flores (1829-1883), from Mazatlán de las Flores, Oaxaca.' fte-energia.org/pdf/e72-39-4...
"Teodoro Flores fue un indígena mazateco que luchó con las armas en contra de las tropas norteamericanas en la guerra de 1847" 'Teodoro Flores was a Mazatec indian who fought in the armed forces against U.S. troops in 1847' imparcialoaxaca.mx/oaxaca/revol...
...town Teotilán del Valle famous for its weaving. I've never heard any Zapotec people claim Ricardo Flores Magón by ethnicity but only by affinity. He is claimed by Mazatec people where the town of his birth was renamed Eloxochitlán de Flores Magón. Sources follow. Thanks for your consistent work!
I see there's a chain of English language sources that posit Teodoro Flores as Zapotec father but Teodoro was born in Mazatlán de las Flores in far north of Oaxaca where the population speaks Mazatec. Maybe the error is from that district of the Mazateca being named Teotitlán like the zapotec...
Glad to see Ricardo Flores Magón celebrated for his life on the anniversary of his death in a US prison. Taking the opportunity to correct that his heritage is not Zapotec but Mazatec from San Antonio Eloxochitlán a Mazatec town in north Oaxaca with Zapotec fighting the same struggle further south.
You know those actors who can't remember their lines? And the issue with children having issues learning and behaving that they want to blame on lockdowns, iPhones, etc? #covid #braindamage #longcovid

On further reflection, handing operation of our Universities over to a professional administrative class with no personal investment in the educational mission of the university or the creation and maintenance of knowledge might have been somewhat in error.
