The UK Supreme Court’s transphobic ruling on the definition of woman last week is a defeat for all women—even, ultimately, the self-described feminists celebrating it, and the women who will gain in the short term from their alliance with the carceral state.

There are lots of us and we are well organised and connected to each other. However hostile the conditions get we will be able to look after each other as we already do. We're inventive and the law has never stopped us before nor has it stopped the oppression we face.
The Equality Act was passed in 2010, it was not the source of the social progress that led to it’s creation and it has not been the source for the progress that followed (nor has it protected us from regression).
The ruling today is a bump on the road towards trans liberation, not the end of it.
