For a gecko that’s common on the exterior walls of most of Sydney’s homes it’s certainly an awesome animal. Seeing my first individual in habitat was definitely a treat.

Usually when I hear a rustling in the bushes I assume that it’s just a brush turkey foraging through the leaf litter. Come to find out these two dominant male eastern water dragons were having a territorial dispute.

Eastern water dragon (Intellagama leuserii) from a dreary morning a few weeks ago in the national park next to my university. They’re thick on the ground there but it’s hard to get tired of such a regal animal.
