βI say this with full confidence and no hyperbole: I wonβt survive without meaningful systemic and social change.β
Our petition is still going.
Itβs been over a year since it was formally tabled with over 30,000 signatures.
The AB government has yet to taken action β but Iβm not backing down.
Photo of a young person with green hair who has Spinal Muscular Atrophy, wearing a colourful dress, and using a bright pink wheelchair, outdoors. Text reads: "Our home care needs funding. 'I should not have to be successful or ambitious to deserve care and subsequently, life.' Read Karliβs Story."
Albertans who rely on our underfunded home care system aren't getting their care needs met.
For @karleia.bsky.social, this means a constant fight just to get the care hours necessary for basicsβlike showering, eating meals, or nose scratching.

An inaccessible βsafe spaceβ is actually just an unsafe space with performative advertising
βwow, youβre so detail-oriented!β thanks, itβs the trauma
If thereβs one thing Iβve learned as a Disabled person, itβs how to protect my peace.
I canβt escape persistent ableism, barriers, or inaccessibility, which means Iβve always reached my stress quota and Iβm incapable of tolerating avoidable toxicity.
I definitely feel you there. Solidarity π and same!! It's making my heart so happy
Heya!!! Itβs been ages. So happy to see you too! I'm doing fairly decent and yourself??
Reminder that itβs nearly 2025 and marriage equality still doesnβt exist for Disabled people
Thanks so much!
This is wonderful. Iβm also a Disabled writer and would love to be added. π
Autism isnβt a disease or an epidemic. Itβs not something to fear or to prevent.
If βcombating autismβ seems like a worthy political goal to you, youβre either a eugenicist, or youβve been deceived by eugenicists. #Autistic
A brief thread on alt-text.
Alt text is descriptive text that conveys the meaning of an image. It's designed to make visual content accessible to people with vision disabilities. When a person uses assistive technology such as a screen reader, the screen reader will read the onscreen text aloud 1/7

to my siblings: I'm here for you, I'll fight for and with you
#transdayofremembrance #tdor
Trans rights & disability justice are linked, not only by disabling consequences of transphobia, but by the unthinkable cruelty of us being forced to advocate at, empathize with, and soothe the people gatekeeping resources for our survival--typically while we experience intense personal danger
Disabled people are cool as fuck
We have the power to shape this platform into the refuge we want it to beβand itβs important to be cognizant of that moving forward.
Avoiding ableist language, using alt text, amplifying Disabled voices, and choosing GIFs mindfully are all small ways to make a big difference for Disabled users.
Definitely is
It's all well and good to not want to shop at or sell on the 'Zon, but remember that it is one of the most accessible services around and disabled folks often don't have the luxury to shop elsewhere.
why is this my first skeet π«
Vaccines donβt cause autism (but I kinda wish they did bc allistics are wild)
