The Old Wellington, Shambles Square, Manchester. Taken while checking if the old Ricoh GR still works (which it does). O happened to have snap (zone) focus enabled and set to 2.5 meters when I took this, so everything from 2 metres is in focus.

Re-upping this piece because some of you were quite sensibly offline this Valentine's Day:
Spanish courts just ordered blocks on ProtonVPN and NordVPN during LaLiga matches. Because nothing says 'good governance' like censoring your internet for soccer. Meanwhile, the UK considers rest...

So..... how's YOUR week going so far?
Without the dots, it looks like polygraph test results from a pathological liar.
I reckon that by Board Of Peace, they really meant Bored Of Peace, but had difficulty with spelling.
Charlie don't surf! RIP Robert Duval!
I still have my black-and-silver Pen F. It sells for almost twice what I paid these days! 25 f/1.8, 45mm f1.8 and 20mm f1.7 for me.
This Lumix LX2 camera I bought from AKL duty free back in 2006 still works. I guess that means I can get down with the kids who've decided to make old digicams great again.

In the US, I see a pattern that suggests an emerging pretext to postpone or cancel the midterms.
This weekend I've been playing with London photos from a trip to London a couple of years ago. Here's a shot of Leadenhall Market in The City.
This new war is not only illegal, reckless and deeply corrupt, it is the latest in a series of increasingly desperate distractions from the EPSTEIN Files.

OpenAI is now facing a total of 8 wrongful death lawsuits from grieving families....who claim that ChatGPT, in particular, the GPT-4o version, drove their loved ones to suicide. Soelbergβs complaint also alleges that company executives knew the chatbot was defective before it pushed it to the public
I hope Sinners' 16 Oscar nominations translate into some actual Oscars. It's an excellent movie on pretty much every level.
It's a funny world. Ten years ago, I bought the Ricoh GR from an eBay seller. Today, the same model sells for pretty much the same price. In 2018, I picked up a crazy cheap Fujifilm XF10 in an Amazon sale. I guess it hadn't been selling. Now goes on eBay for almost double what I paid new!
Back in the 90s, something chimed for anyone working in an office (especially in tech) who read Dilbert for the first time. Later work was less funny, often coming across as bitter. Then Dilbert's creator, Scott Adams, went off at the deep end. May he rest in peace.
Looking better. In the highly unlikely event that Reform gets seats in line with polling, it should mean Conservative and Reform together (possibly backed up by useful idiots in NI) don't get a Parliamentary majority.
That awkward moment when you try to navigate an Excel spreadsheet using Vim motions.
In reacting to #Venezuela events, #Russia must be gutted that it cannot resort to the main staple of its wartime rhetoric, cultivated so eagerly over the last 3+ years:
The charge of Western "neocolonialism" π§΅
Ooh, Maduro is in court. I expect weapons charges to be thrown out. Having weapons (and armies trained to use them) is, in a sense, what heads of state do. The question is: does the Justice Department have a thin, white line of snortable evidence connecting Maduro to the white nose cleaning powder?
Donβt know who needs to hear this but βtaking back controlβ from a Union youβre a member of, with full voting rights, to hand it to an American lunatic you bent over backwards to flatter yet he publicly humiliates you, is not taking back control at all, itβs relinquishing it.

This rhetoric isnβt normal and we canβt let it become normal, no matter who is spewing the words. Placing religion alongside statehood is a five alarm fire, especially in a country that was so intentional about separating the two.
Four cityscapes from my Christmas Day walk in Manchester. All taken with a Sony A7C II and 24-70 lens. JPEGs with minimal processing.
The Cumbria Coast rail line is lovely. I spent an afternoon in a very quiet Seascale a couple of years ago after a friend managed to get Β£10 day tickets to the Northern network. Beware, though, it's the slow train! I recommend Seascale and Ulverston, and hope to try other stops in the next year.
