On a more serious note, Iβd be interested to know what video footage there is of the postwar period, now tow town etc devt (whatβs it called? Cumbernauld!) What archives are there of this sort of footage ?
Me neither !
Also the queue outside Firewater last night was quite something as an aside , everywhere else was snoozy in comparison. Och, young people today etc etc
At nice n sleazy last night (a young personβs drinking haunt with a room below)
Just watched this with @warringtonruncorn.com at 11/10 volume. O m g.
We so need you guys to do a project on postwar Glasgow devt
Gordon does the music - you get us into the moving image visuals.
This would be so cool.
When youβve got an album of new material and the audience just want Smoke on the Water β¦
Town and Country Planning through the medium of interpretative dance
Aka the awesome Warrington Runcorn New Town Development Plan finally hits the nice and sleazy fleshpots of Glasgaβ!
@warringtonruncorn.com
Plus @kinbraemusic.bsky.social and Ida Gordon for even more delights
Yup defo a barrel jelly. Those stubby arms and massive size are tell-tales.
Ochres and carbons I get β¦ but whatβs the basis of Egyptian Blue? Blues have always had a special place (think ultramarine, from over the water)
Are you supporting Coldplay?

This looks like a major chunk of the total B-2 fleet has either done the bombing run or is being relocated, based on estimates of the (intel visible) tankers used to drag them
These Pacific-routes planes are likely just relocating to Diego Garcia while the others went the direct eastwards route for the round trip bombing run
β¦ and then onto Diego Garcia. One has already stopped at Hawaii due to an issue. Once based at DG itβll be easier to launch follow-on raids on Iran.
They didnβt have to as the planes came from the US.
The B-2s did a direct flight from Whiteman AFB (with refueling en route). The strike planes went east (the shorter path to Iran).
However thereβs also a flight of B-2 that seem to be flying over the Pacific (longer route), probably to Guam β¦
No way the RCs could push this thru, the political backlash would be off the scale. However, if it came from top down youβd have more chance - hence OLβs reference to Ministers.
Yes, but.
Logically youβd do that if the science was your priority. Intellectual critical mass (+ systems + expertise etc) make it a lot easier to do world-class research in those places, all other things being equal.
Yes, but. Politics.
These days, Iβm just as likely to think βposh but dimβ. But as someone with degrees from both Oxon & Cantab who canβt use that accent effect because of coming from a northern comprehensive you can discount that as sour πππ
Iβm not sure how much a posh (RP) accent does that these days. In the past, it would mark you out as ex public school, one of the natural ruling class, and one would automatically defer and tug oneβs forelock.

Putting this up, because I try to be very conscious of the BS of AI. When Iβm researching something I know something about, I can spot it, but itβs made me realise quite how much I canβt trust anything else I read, see or hear online anymore unless I already know about it. What a damn mess.

Strictly speaking, that specific packet of asparagus is banned from the EU. Which sound like itβs laced with god knows what.
But ofc it could have been sent straight from Mexico to EU with no problem (and undoubtedly the producer has EU customers too).
Oh and having a Brit accent automatically adds 20+ points onto your IQ when visiting the States π
Bless :)
I have my own. I used to get twitchy about poorly-written CVs to my lab, because the job typically needed attention to nerdy detail. (Obv less of an issue these days with spellchecker, but back in the day β¦). Youβre trying to make inferences from what info you have.
I guess itβs a useful heuristic from days when education and learning language / grammar were closely connected (and plenty of people had access to neither). If you canβt just the veracity of the facts, rule of thumb is judging how βeducatedβ they sound.
We have so many of these heuristics.
This is the vulnerability that lots of pseudo-intellectuals take advantage of too! Just speaking fluently can convince some people that what you're saying must also be smart...

Well weβre all familiar with bars full of pretty girls and streets full of drunken lads who canβt get in anywhere - I feel this metaphor has legs, esp for a uni in a big city with a reputation!
