These are all pretty basic things, but I find it good to reinforce every once in a while. Anyway, there’s my two cents.

Ninth- for the love of all things holy PLEASE PUT YOUR BUSINESS EMAIL IN YOUR BIO.
It makes it infinitely easier to hire you. ❤️
Eighth- recognize that if this is a side hustle for you, it’s someone else’s 9-5
Simply be respectful of the fact that even though this is objectively a very fun job, it’s still a job. Treat it like one. Be organized and thorough.
Seventh- just start.
I’ve heard it a lot the past few months- “I’m going to start a channel” “I’m going to start streaming.”
Just start. Even if it’s not perfect. We can’t invest in something that doesn’t exist.
Sixth- network.
Ok, this one is more Riftbound focused, since playing card games by yourself is rough. Meeting others in the community makes it easier to pool resources and learn things. Making content together will level you up.
Fifth- if you want something, ask.
There are quite literally millions of people making content every day. I can’t read minds, so if you want a thing (be it a deck, a playmat, an invitation to a thing) you need to ask- put it on me to say “no” if something isn’t possible.
Fourth- familiarize yourself with the goals of the company.
I don’t mean profits. I mean things like creating great experiences or showing a love of local communities. These are the types of investments that companies are looking to make with influencers and creators.
Third- if you aren’t a partner yet, behave like one anyway.
Those who receive direct support from a gaming company (any brand) are held to a higher standard than other fans. Be gracious and kind, online, in person, everywhere. If you don’t- I guarantee you we’ll hear about it.
Second- go in with a plan.
I’m so psyched that you want to work together, but tell me what you do that’s different and unique. Tell me what you’d like to make that I can facilitate.
First- introduce yourself.
You should never just assume someone knows you and your content. This may shock you, but a lot of us who work in the content space don’t like to consume content in our free time. Introduce yourself by your handle and platform.
I’ve been doing this type of job in some capacity or another since 2018, and even though I have a great deal of experience, these are all still simply preferences, so take what I’m saying with a grain of salt.
