By throwing a giant farmland party!
A close-up of a Scythe board game in progress, showing a tense standoff between red mechs and blue spider-mechs on the map.
Itβs not like we are arming up against each other or anything, this is just some friendly border negotiations about strategic resource allocation on the eastern farmlands.
Everything is fine.

I get that some had no choice, but honestly, the writing was on the wall for at least two years if not longer.
Unity is beyond saving, and it's only downhill from here.
I'm not sure which data structures offer data locality in C#, but in C++, data structures are a hot topic in general π It seems like no one trusts the default implementations for game and engine development and prefers to build their own.
Well, it's basically stack allocation with a twist π
It provides data locality by allocating contiguous memory for its elements and enables cache-friendly read operations.
Probably slower on common list operations but if you have a finite number of pre-determined data, voila! Free performance!

@ozone.birb.house hello, another game dev here π
Finally, I'm top %1!
The time has come.
Can you guess what I'm up to? π

Finally! Brace yourselves my fellow game devs. Gotta hurry about my prototype!
Game Feel by Steve Swink and Challenges for Game Designers by Brenda Brathwaite, Ian Schreiber
Wonder why these great books donβt have decent e-book versions in popular online stores. All my other game design books are digital, and they are just CONVENIENT! #gamedesign
Yes! My favorite tutorial maker is exploring my favorite game engine! Now we are talking.
Hah, this is tragically hilarious.
I believe we could say all of these for Unity as well, a few years back. Yes, Epic is far better than Unity as a game engine company, but it is still proprietary. Things change and will change. You wouldn't want to be there when it does.
Absolutely true. The real issue was using a proprietary engine to power a commercial product. That is the problem we need to solve. No one can guarantee that the same thing won't happen to Unreal.
Well, I believe it will have console support in the near future. They started a company named W4 Games to comply with legal issues about console certifications. They even showed a working beta on Gamescom this year.
Wow, great scene to show off Godot to my fellow developer friends!
Here is a hard-to-swallow pill: The programming world is much broader than just game programming, and not all the good ideas are invented here.
I'm really excited to witness the game development community finally embrace free and open-source software development after today's Unity incident.
Most of us knew that game dev is a creative business, and nothing else harms a creative business more than ignorant management dramas and cash-grab monetization strategies. Fortunately, 2023 gives us many new insightful examples, with BG3 being the most remarkable.
I have six invites lying around. Am I the Neo or something now?
Besides, youβre saying it wrong. Itβs GOD-OOH not GO-DOOT.
Look! Another Godot ppl. Welcome Nick π
You should show it!
Itβs a game-changer!
Welcome to the light side! (I mean both bsky and open source software π)
Now we need a similar resolutions for other toxic social media. Hopefully, it starts with YouTube.
It is probably the most awaited feature by the community!
@emily.bsky.team Hi, I'm one of the many indie game developers here on Bluesky. We'd β¨loveβ¨ to have animated GIFs (and video ππ») support to show off our work. Is this on a roadmap somewhere?
