When did Americans get the idea that neighborhoods never change? I think of growth, industrialism, even westward expansion when I think of the ‘old days’ of America. Now we’re complaining at even the prospect of a neighbor building a porch, let alone a second story.

I think it’s important to understand the views of those you disagree with. Particularly in politics where we will need to vote for someone who this author may not vote for but could persuade people like him. I hate our president as much as the next Bostonian but this shows how we got here.

If you turned on Fox news any time 2020-22, you would have seen them replaying the same 3 clips of violence in cities and saying ’look what happens when you defund the police'. It's a layup for the other side and a self-own for liberals.
