As I emphasized here:
"The fundamental legal problems under both U.S. and international law relate to the underlying use of force in this war against Iran."
A war which is of course illegal.

I get why US & Israel are striking critical infrastructure such as water and electricity in Iran, it suggests two things:
1) theyβve run out of clear high value easy to target (stationary)pol-mil targets, and
2) their theory of victory requires societal collapse β> uprising mechanisms.
Massie on Newsmax: "We're not getting the answers we need from Pam Bondi. I just spent 3 hours at the DOJ this week looking at the unredacted files. And I'm finding evidence of files they haven't released yet." (Note that the Newsmax anchor agrees with him!)
With the President declaring that the war only ends with βunconditional surrenderβ, Congress absolutely needs to be part of the decision-making. Not weighing in at this point is an abdication of its constitutional responsibilities.

"...war in Iran is very unpopular. Not merely negative-number ... but worst-ever-support-for-war-when-it-started unpopular. With just 38% of Americans in favor, support for bombing Iran is lower than retrospective support for the war in Iraq was in 2014." www.gelliottmorris.com/p/polls-us-i...
Oh look, it's the most predictable thing ever. If only this could've been avoided.
oh, was that load bearing?
Excellent NYT video analysis finds that the bombing of scores of schoolchildren in Iran came amid other US strikes in the vicinity:

Kalshi employees "kind of understand that without the tweets and the streamers and all of the social-media stuff that the traders do for them, usually just for free, their marketing would be a lot harder," said Jack Campion, 20, a junior at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and a Kalshi affiliate. In September, Kalshi briefly signed up a 15-year-old videogame streamer who goes by vertid online to promote its brand on X as an affiliate. A week later, Kalshi ended the partnership. "Yo brother, legal team confirmed that we can't work with minors rn," a Kalshi employee wrote to the user in messages reviewed by the Journal. "Kinda sad tbh."

This is a chilling crime. A shame on our country. The Iranian ship was unarmed. The US knew this. The sailors were murdered by our navy, and the survivors were left to die at sea.

"There is an old saying in politics: if you want loyalty, get a dog. The trouble for Kristi Noem is that she infamously shot hers as a 14-month-old puppy after failing to train it properly. So, freshly fired by Donald Trump, she has absolutely nowhere left to turn."

Prior to being asked any questions regarding the case, the agents asked whether they could audio record the interview. advised she was not comfortable being recorded at that time. requested agents explain to her the goal and parameters of the fourth interview. She indicated she was aware that because she was victimized several years prior, the statutes of limitation of any viable federal violation may have run. She asked agents, "what's the point?" The agents explained that all victims of crime should have the opportunity to tell their story; they wanted to provide her with that opportunity should she choose to accept. The agents also explained why they wished to keep the fourth interview focused on abuse endured at the hands of individuals associated with JEFFREY EPSTEIN. previously mentioned she had sexual contact with (current U.S. President) DONALD TRUMP while she was a minor. She previously explained the contact was facilitated through her association with EPSTEIN. / was asked whether she felt

DOJ has posted some pages of the missing Epstein files related to the FBIβs belated investigation of Trumpβs participation in Epstein crimes after Epsteinβs arrest and death in custody in 2019, and they are as bleak as you might expect. www.documentcloud.org/documents/27...

FT comments section this morning - saying what everyone else is thinking, right?
The Trump DOJ has been taking down Epstein files.
The massive tranche of files the Justice Department currently maintains is more than 65,000 pages shorter than what the agency initially released, according to a CBS analysis β and the number continues to fluctuate.
Russia is one of the biggest winners early in the largest U.S. military confrontation in decades, as Iranian missiles deplete stocks of Patriot interceptors that Ukraine needs.
I haven't said anything about this before, bc in the grand scheme of horrors this only rates as an inconvenience, but since others are experiencing it:
Just three days after CBP arrested me for filming them outside Broadview on 9/27, my TSA Pre & Global Entry were suspendedβand so were my wife's.
Pete Hegseth, if he does not resign, should at least get out of the way and let better men than him talk to the nation and to the press.

It is wild to me that DOGE/Musk could dismantle so much of the government in just a few months from a combination of anti-regulatory personal greed and fascism-tinged stupidity and no one will ever face any consequence for it.
"How Trumpβs War With Iran Could Have Already Cost Over $1 Billion"
Constitution gives to Congress the power to declare war so the people's elected representatives can exercise their collective judgment after public debate on whether to expend such blood & treasure.
