The bottom line: you need a safe, warm place to put your head so you can think about anything elseβ¦seeing a doctor, reconnecting with friends and family to build your support network, eating consistently, getting connected to community services, looking for work, and getting back up on your feet.
For people to be healthy, safe, and stable, they need housing.
The BC Conservatives have NO plan to address homelessness - only opposition to the real solutions weβre putting forward to get to the root of the problem.
What a great Coldest Night of the Year! Hundreds showed up for the DTES & raised funds that will make a real impact in peopleβs lives. Grateful for this community & for those who walked alongside us β₯οΈ @seanorr.bsky.social @lucymaloney.bsky.social @jennykwan.bsky.social

Looking forward to more good work with amazing, visionary partners like the Vancouver Chinatown Foundation, S.U.C.C.E.S.S., Axiom Builders, Carol Lee, @gregorrobertson.bsky.social, CMHC, @cityofvancouver.bsky.social π‘β₯οΈ
This housing builds community. It gives those who need a hand a home AND it gets government in the middle-income housing market to support residents like Neena, a young grad living and working in the DTES.
Weβre so proud to have given more than $34 million this project! /3
With 231 units + 300 ppl currently living there since it opened in April 2024, this is one of the largest social housing buildings in BCβs history!
This building has 120 units at welfare rates and 111 units ranging from $1,150 for single units to $2,300 for a two bedroom! /2
Yesterday, Premier @davidebybc.bsky.social and I got to attend a celebration of Bob and Michaelβs Place in the DTES with so many community members, organizations, and governments that all came together to make this community housing happen.

We all have a role to play to stand up to bullies and model the kind, supportive behaviour that we want to see.

Kids deserve to have every opportunity to be their authentic selves and always have a helping hand around the corner. Thatβs why itβs so important to use this day as a reminder to teach and practice anti-bullying, anti-discrimination, and inclusion year-round. /2
I am always so proud to show up for #PinkShirtDay!
In my community, in government, and as a Mom/auntie/trusted adult to many kiddos, I feel a deep sense of responsibility to support and help create spaces that are safe, caring, inclusive, and affirming for children.

We are making historic investments into housing - and opportunities like these help us build faster so people can move into their homes sooner.
Everyone in BC deserves a safe, affordable home. This is the work weβre delivering on.
We put forward impactful projects that BC is working on that are 12 months away from being shovel ready, and the Feds came to the table with funding.
This is real partnership. And itβll free up $170 million to redirect to @bchousing.bsky.socialβs DASH projects to build 400+ more homes.
Today, @gregorrobertson.bsky.social and I jointly announced that BC and the federal government have put forward $370 million to rapidly build 700+ supportive and transitional homes to seriously address homeslessness in BC.
We mark Family Day this year with heavy hearts. We ache for the families of Tumbler Ridge. We hold them in our prayers and stand with them in their pain and grief.
(1/2)
This week we witnessed a truly horrific school shooting in Tumbler Ridge. And at a time when British Columbians are uniting in support of the community, some people have been exploiting this tragedy to push a political agenda against trans kids.
That's shameful and wrong. π§΅
All of BC is wrapping the families of Tumbler Ridge with love.

Complex Care Housing connects people with the care and services they need to manage complex health challenges. Without this support, many face cycles of evictions, shelter stays and emergency room visits.
