You guys ever think about how, if Al Gore had been president on 9/11, we might be energy independent now? I wish I didnβt.

I had to bite my tongue constantly when my first granddaughter was born Nov 2020 and no vaccine available until she was maybe 2. I was and am still livid with both fed and provincial govts. That airborne protocols with masks wasnβt the default option is enraging to meβ¦
Enshittification my internet friend! Enshittification is a great book that helps one understand why everything is getting worseβ¦and @pluralistic.net.web.brid.gy has ideas for how to turn it around. Although an illegal war may not have been anticipated by the authorβ¦
Iβm washing dishes in my kitchen. I was here 4 years ago listening to Phoebe Bridgers and crying my face off that my government was really going to do this to all the kids. May I remind you that in March 2022 *THERE WASNβT A 0-5 COVID VACCINE.* Forced mass infection, including all of our youngest.
How did let it rip work out for us? How has it been 4 full years since then and we still have a healthcare system denying airborne transmission. Municipalities display no new knowledge of how disease spreads. Have heard of no entity improving IAQ, except schools which we have pushed so hard for.
4 years ago, NB abruptly went from closing due to omicron, to encouraging the hasty and deadly spread of disease. No more counting school cases, no more masks, no more isolation, no more testing required. And education and health reps were all unavailable for comment.
Obama: "We are living in a time where it can be hard to hope. Each day we wake up to some new assault on our democratic institutions. Another setback to the idea of the rule of law ... but this man - Rev. Jesse Jackson - inspires us to take a harder path ... bc if we don't step up, nobody else will"
I lack the words to capture it, but ... it's just endlessly remarkable to me that so many people in our society have chosen trans kis -- TRANS KIDS, the smallest, least significant, most vulnerable demographic slice you could possibly pick -- as a repository for all their fears & insecurities.
βTrans children are perfect.β
Even with a highly dysfunctional transit system, I still feel happier without a car. And yes, I no longer have a job I have to get to every day. I had hoped to go car-less much sooner but #Transit in #Ottawa has deteriorated significantly since I first had that goal in 2010β¦
Hereβs my urban truth for you. I ended my relationship with my car in November. Iβve been car-less this winter & my mental health improved. I live in the urban core, with permit-street parking only available and boy, is that stressful in #Ottawa winters. This year, no parking of car to worry about!

hereβs my take re: PMMC and Iran on power & politics today
The fact heβs been able to fail upward, his entire life, to TWICE reaching the most powerful office in the world, is the most damning indictment of the American system it is possible to imagine.

The top word is English followed by how it is written in the Cherokee language followed by how it is spelled in English then how to pronounce it phonetically.

Black-and-white formal portrait of Alva Myrdal (1902β1986), the Swedish diplomat, sociologist, politician, and Nobel Peace Prize laureate. She is photographed against a dark background, resting her chin thoughtfully on her left hand, which displays a large, ornate ring. Her expression is calm, wise, and slightly introspective, with deep-set eyes, fine lines of age, and a gentle smile. Her silver-gray hair is styled in a soft, voluminous updo typical of the mid-20th century, and she wears a dark tailored jacket or dress with a simple collar, along with a distinctive metal wristwatch on her left arm. Alva Myrdal was a pioneering figure in social policy, women's rights, and international disarmament. With her husband Gunnar Myrdal, she co-authored the influential 1934 book Kris i befolkningsfrΓ₯gan (Crisis in the Population Question), which shaped Sweden's progressive family and welfare policies. She served as Sweden's Minister for Disarmament and Church Affairs (1966β1973), headed UNESCO's social science department, and played a key role in the United Nations. In 1982, she shared the Nobel Peace Prize with Alfonso GarcΓa Robles for her lifelong work on nuclear disarmament and peace advocacy through organizations like the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI) and Pugwash Conferences. Known for her intellectual rigor, feminist principles, and commitment to global justice, she remains an icon of principled leadership in diplomacy and social reform.#AlvaMyrdal #NobelPeacePrize #Disarmament #SIPRI

Trying to stay positive and keep chugging, but this whole thing with the US fully becoming a new Axis with Israel against the will of the people is so incredibly, deeply fucked
Kristi Noem has done a stunning amount of damage and itβs good sheβs gone.
But this doesnβt change the fact that we need a complete overhaul of DHS, impartial investigations into the killings of two American citizens, and information on children that were taken from Minnesota.
