If you're starting with art, the number 1 thing you should be drawing is your passion, everything else can come later. Cultivate your passion and drive first.
It seems like beginners get all kinds of things in their minds about what you're supposed to be drawing as an artist. And I don't necessarily mean fundamentals practice with this, I just mean subject matter. And then they avoid drawing anything that really matches their passion like the plague.
If there's one single thing I see beginner artists do wrong all the time, it's not drawing what you're actually interested in.
Like, why are you even doing this if you're not going to be drawing the things you're actually interested in!?

Phoenica and Zira bonding over the concept of plushies coming to life and granting magical powers. Molly and Aika bonding over plushies that are completely normal and *don't* do that.
thank you for these robot girls
I think Molly would vibe with the whole "wanting to do normal child things".
Do you think Phoenica from Epithet Erased would or would not get along well with Aika from Pretty Pretty Please?
A jackal-girl with a beanie with a maple leaf on it is looking through a magnifying glass she's holding.
I post a lot in a more western cartoon-y style here, but I actually most of the time draw in more of a manga style. Here's Anubis in that style!
aw man, I wanted a cursed sword
As a little bonus behind-the-scenes, this animation was made using a very simple ad-hoc Spine2D rig. The character parts were drawn in Krita.
My approach lately has been to ink it wrong and then pretend it's meant to be that way.
#GAMEOVERSE Fanart!
Anubisちゃん可愛い ( @techaro.lol @celphase.bsky.social )
I was really surprised too to see it on valve's website!
WHY IS THE YEAR ENDING???
Jealous girlfriend meme (really lecherous boyfriend meme) foreground, highly rendered drawing "Stupidly overrendering a drawing" the boyfriend looking on approvingly "Me a comic artist" a jealous girlfriend rendered sparsely with thick blacks "Strip it all down to essentials and draw the hell out of what's left"
My most popular twitter post...
From warmup sketches, I like this little gremlin quite a lot.
This is fair.
As someone who used to be a TF2 mapper, seeing Anubis on the Valve developer wiki feels pretty good.
I've been asked for permission so I know for a fact there is
never put more than 75% effort into a single page. Save the major background for the establishing shot and imply the rest through gradients, color blurs if you have to.
If a background doesn't add anything you couldn't tell the story without, you might not need one. several jobs for one person!
A cartoon drawing of a podcast audience in an auditorium. A speech bubble leading off screen reads "we have a segment on this podcast called 'safety third." In the foreground, an anthropomorphic fox wearing a shirt that says "you're boeing to die" side-eyes an anthropomorphic airliner weearing a shirt that reads "I'm boeing to kill you."
async-await considered harmful, return to actor
If you spend more than 5 minutes talking to me about videogames, you'd know it to obviously be Morgan Ofthedevil, of course.
I think people are kinda glossing over just how groundbreaking it is that the Steam Frame is going to be Linux based. Not android based, but plain Linux based. According to the specs page it runs KDE Plasma. Absolutely insane choice if you wanted be cheap on R&D. Looking forward to it so much.
How much clout do you think one needs to have to get a Steam Frame devkit as a solo dev? Asking for a friend... That friend may be me...
Since it's Dog Girl Day (11/11), here's a quick QP sketch! #100oj
