And forgot the Astros still made the playoffs that year for the first time in franchise history!

Lived in Houston when JR and Nolan Ryan pitched together to start the 1980 season. Ryan wasn't great that year and JR suffered his stroke in July. What could have been.

I was in the upper deck of the β€˜Stick when it happened. Family moved to the Bay Area just a year or two earlier and became a lifelong Giants fan that day!

Would love to see a photo from a similar angle of the old footprint, new stadium and surrounding neighborhood today. Stunned there's so much open space!

Kawakami hit the nail on the head: I seriously doubt Glen is a racist, but making this terrible mistake twice means you aren't a competent broadcaster. Watch the Giants make it worse by having him join the road trip to Kansas City in July.

Not only that, but I still remember the landline from my best friend in high school and his parents still have the number. It's been more than 40 years.

Was doom scrolling for about 10 minutes and finally looked up to see a sunset that I have been missing the whole time.

"Is there technology the left is excited about?" is the kind of question you only ask if you're wildly naive about technology.

mRNA vaccines. Heat pumps. Offshore wind. Urban mining. Sodium batteries.

But god forbid we're not fawning over every new implementation of Making Computers Bad At Math.

Civil rights leader Jesse Jackson has passed away at the age of 84. My thoughts are with his family.

I wanted to share this clip from his appearance on Sesame Street in 1971. His important words ring just as true today as they did back then.

Yup, looked it up on Reddit. Was called the Caribbean Zone. It sounds like the owner made up the story about it being the Doobie Brothers' plane to give it some panache. Was still a cool spot.

I had this card when I was growing up on Long Island, so I recognized it, but couldn't place the player. Looked it up and it's Cliff Johnson. Great painting!

There was a bar South of Market in SF that was built in an airplane fuselage from a plane that was used by the Doobie Brothers when they toured. They would hang plastic monkeys from your drink. Can't remember the name though!

Logan Webb led all pitchers with 207 innings last year. That means Spaceman threw the equivalent of more than eight additional complete games that year. Pitchers were just built different back then.
