The odds of a Spencer Cox presidency is taking off. He is handling this moment well and I actually think he is a huge improvement over the typical cast of GOP characters that are thrown around.

I feel pretty confident that America is on a collision course towards its own version of the troubles. Which of course will be way more violent because Americans are far more violent than your average person.
I am genuinely tired of opening a social media app and seeing a person get murdered. It's an awful thing that social media just seems to accept now.
Knew he was dead immediately from that video. That was a big boy rifle and since they don't have anyone arrested yet someone probably pretty throughly trained with it.
Very disturbing that this is our America now.
But if you cut FICA tax by 25-55% and then added this in I think it would be a net win for everyone. Especially if it was simply just unaccessible till 65. You could even stack it to say its money for you when you retire, but if you don't use it all it goes back into the pot or something.
Yeah, but the fed in this case is seeding it with 1k automatically. Some people do that for there kids, but most don't. I think its just incentivizing retirement path out of SSI. The kicker is what happens to FICA if they just reduced it to cover for volititliy again not the worst thing.
But............ Wall Street will move to securitize this super quick and then speculate and borrow against it. So you would have to kick the fees out and you probably still need SSI at the end of the day to cover the people who retire during market chaos.
That adds up quick. Assuming they are taking a standard fee its a nice 5ish billion a year once it gets going. You would need to regulate their risk exposure to make sure it matters for those who will come to rely on it eventually.
This isn't a terrible idea on paper, but this is basically guaranteed revenue for wall street by giving them ~3.5 billion annually in new accounts to charge fees on for a sweet 65+ years per person.
I would allow it if it got an NFL style hard knocks TV show treatment.
It's all so insane. Only reason this system exists is for greed.
A billing summary showing a total amount billed of $225,425.45 for a visit on February 3, 2025. A discount of $90,170.18 was applied for using an in-network provider. The allowed amount after the discount is $135,255.27. The insurance plan paid the full allowed amount of $135,255.27. The patient responsibility is $0.00.
I have a really awesome employer so my insurance covered it. But I just got the explanation of benefits from when my son was in the NICU for five weeks and he ran up a bill of 225k before discounts. His case was mild by comparison I don't know how people are surviving financially with NICU babies.
@bendowsett.bsky.social Have you heard of the VR system mentioned here? Would love a deep dive on the tech. www.thenewstribune.com/sports/nfl/s...
A fun fact is that the diner next to the pool in the bottom right became a grocery store for the community during the pandemic. They would take orders from the community, buy the stuff in bulk, and then hand it out socially distant to people.
Will say I am 100% against social media for kids as long as they can be kept away from it. Hopefully, that will all burn down when my kids are old enough to care.
I have an 8, 6, 3, and newborn. We are pretty strict with screen time during the week but pretty loose on the weekend. It seems to work out pretty well.
I worked from home so there really was not a ton of errands that needed doing since we used grocery pickup. Suburban sprawl is bad, but effective design can reinvent the suburbs too.
Its way easier to keep tabs on a bunch of kids playing on a street or a culdesac than it is in any urban environment
I used to live in this neighborhood and there were five parks in within about 5 mins of walking. Everyone of these stars was at most a 15 minute walk away. I couldn't walk to the grocery store, but I could ride my bike there in about 10 mins.
I am super pro-walkable high/medium-density urban neighborhoods, but their value decreases with the more kids you have. HOAs suck, but giant master plan communities actually solve a lot of the same issues that urban walkable neighborhoods do.

Kinda looks like a sand dollar
I have met some really smart people at AZ16. Marc was not one of them.
They have always been at odds with each other, they both just believe they can beat the other when the time comes.
Do you think he pretended to be moderate in the first place or the power corrupted him? Cause I legit don't understand his pivot over the last few years.
Cool man, happy for you.
I am not talking down to anyone. I spoke pretty clearly about people I have interacted with personally and made the claim that I view the time commitment as crazy to me.
If you want to do that and it makes you happy, great, I am happy for you.
It's not an assumption I have put on people. Only an experience I have had with a small, specific group of people I have interacted with.
Also would disagree with your time estimate. Dude on the right is likely spending more time than that daily. Mileage definitely varies per person.
At least by American standards this is on the smaller size of SUV, it's shorter than a Toyota RAV4.
I have never known a single shredded dude who didn't expose themselves to eventually be an asshole.
Also the time commitment to look like those dudes is crazy.
That Trump tweet probably nuked his hopes of getting drafted.
