The team working on this did incredible work to seamlessly reduce latency for over a million customers. And they're just getting started.

If the improved Event Bus latency has helped you or your team in a particular use case, we'd love to hear from you!

But in this case, we've open-sourced our Ruler library, so you can see the improvements for yourself here: https://github.com/aws/event-ruler/pull/88

One of the things I love about AWS is that the massive scale our services operate at means that we see so many different use cases. We use those insights to improve our services for *everyone*. Sometimes those improvements aren't immediately visible to our customers...

Part of these improvements came from us switching to Kinesis enhanced fan-out and KCL 2.0, but we also made some big performance improvements to the Ruler library that reduced latency for complex rules by 50ms at p99, and 400ms at p99.9.

I'm excited to announce the Amazon EventBridge Event Bus latency improvements are now live in all AWS Regions! We're seeing a p50 of 90ms and p90 of 140ms - an 80% improvement in latency. https://aws.amazon.com/about-aws/whats-new/2023/05/improved-end-to-end-latencies-amazon-eventbridge-event-buses/

I and my partner in crime Chris Greenwood wrote a short blog post to demystify this "lambda Vs containers" thing. It's one and the same (just a bit different).https://aws.amazon.com/blogs/containers/aws-lambda-for-the-containers-developer/

The first part is true. The second part is half true. Nik’s AppSec bar is now so high that really he just needs to convince himself. If he manages to do that, the rest is easy.

Ugh, I can’t believe my first skeet will forever be me praising @nikpin.ski πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ. I will definitely regret this.

Shout out to @nikpin.ski who I’m currently fighting with over a feature implementation, but who still gave me his first invite, and is really just a wonderful human.
