Always wonderful to see some cross border helpfulness

What do you expect them to do Nute, check the polls and see that the war is astronomically unpopular
Itβs honestly wild that American media has βare liberals trapped in a bluesky bubble???β debates every two weeks while a 22 year old groyper White House staffer known as BasedBoss1488 remixes scenes from 300 in a propaganda video for a toxically unpopular lame duck presidentβs war of choice
WTF, @runeberg.bsky.social loves Kemi Badenoch now
Oh the Arab states are far more independent than what they'd like, I think. Like the model for Venezuela was basically 'you can keep your current regime in place, just as long as you let us have the oil' and I suspect that's what they're aiming for here too.
It's fair clear with their foreign adventures that what they want is essentially vassalage. I have my doubts that they''ll *get it* but that's the goal in my view.
I can't stop watching this, it might be the most Kemi thing I've ever seen. The assumptions about other people's motives. The implication that obviously she knows better than everyone else and that everyone else recognises it. Just incredible levels of Badenoch.
Ahh, I see, did not know that!
For the record my father in law has two ethnic Hungarian friends, who with typical 'Romanian man of a certain age and social class' humour he refers to as 'Bozgor' and 'Mister Bozgor'
I also understand that for that reason Rapid was traditionally the dissident's team of choice in Bucharest.
Team founded around railway trade unionists has better vibes to me than 'the army's team, and the favourite of the communists' (Steaua - official) 'owned by a far right mobster' (Steaua - FCSB) or 'the team of the old interior ministry, including the Securitate' (Dinamo)
My mother in law supports Rapid, so I'm sure my daughter will be pulled in two directions should she take an interest, though neither Raluca or I do much. Rapid is *probably* the one I'd support if absolutely driven to a choice just because...
My father in law supports Dinamo Bucharest so I'm sure it's only a matter of time before he teaches my daughter his favourite phrase 'Muie Steuau'
Because, you see, Kate Garraway Enjoyer, he's called Goodwin, but, hilariously, he lost badly
Probably some of this is Lab24 voters moving out of the DK category where a lot of them have been for a while. I have a feeling that's where Reform voters are largely heading too. As voting intention polls don't typically show DKs it can create some odd shifts when you look at just the headlines
Getting my wife on it @ralucahippie.bsky.social what are the classic slurs for a Hungarian from a Romanian.
Yeah, I frankly think a major difference is that the drumbeat of war for Iraq just went on for way longer. It was not particularly a surprise to anyone when the invasion started, whereas I think Iran was a surprise.
Oh I was mostly referring to them being down 5 points. Pollsters are also showing quite a wide range on Plaid right now, with MiC showing their lowest scores.
They're calling it the Badlose effect.

Yes. I think Matt as well generally just has a real desperate need to be loved and respected, as many figures on the radical right do too and I'm not sure that's a great mix with electoral politics.
I've long liked Weber's assertion that academics make bad politicians but lawyers and journalists make good ones. He said the former are trained to be cautious and the latter have to make snap judgements. That said, Matt is a huge fan of making snap judgements and that's part of the friction he had
That said, Reform's national polling did noticeably fall a bit during the campaign. It's actually been on a downward trajectory in general for a while, but does make me wonder if his campaign hurt them nationally too
Yes, I think they have a wider organisational problem in the region too. Their mayoral candidate at the last election was... *checks notes* the Tory mayoral candidate (he defected not long after being selected by them) who was just some project manager locally. The Greens candidate is now my MP
Yeah I could see him giving it a go, though I frankly think there are better choices available to him. That said, he's a massive publicity hound.
Oh it's certainly the case that no one believes in Matt Goodwin as much as Matt Goodwin
