I'm watching my twitter feed devolve into assorted C and C++ engineers dunking and catfighting with each other over performance and memory allocation strategies, and I'm kind of dying from second hand embarrassment. >_<'

Some gamejam tips I've learned over the years:
* Build for a playtime of like 60 to 120 seconds max
* Don't hide a payoff (eg bossfight) - if you've got time to make great art, put it at the front!
* LAN jams are dominated by couch coop, if its not a separate category (and it should be!) make those.

A part of my process is I do drawovers and noodle around with art I've been given. I tinkered with the new mountain dew logo a little bit to make the "tangents" better. What do you think?
I like the scrolling background!
"Those who don't read good books have no advantage over those who can't." Same goes for any underused talent...
Cool! Thank you! I didnt know bsky could do this.
Haha true, but I also think a game running at a rock solid 30fps shouldn't be doing coyote time either.
On a cheeky note, I think a game might have bigger problems than platforming timing if its not running at 30fps!
I agree and that's what I'm getting at! Last chance for jumping shouldn't ever be TIME based, it should be physical location based...
This reminds me that my spicy old man gamedev take is that coyote time is a terrible idea and should get in the sea. Manipulating coyote time just ends up becoming *tech* that your players have to learn, and I think it makes the whole thing feel mushy instead of precise.
A little more wave function collapse action. I like WFC, but I'm starting to suspect the rules need to a be a bit softer - eg "Prefer not to be" vs "Never", which to be fair is the same as when you do A* pathfinding. "I'd prefer you to not put that there, but if you have no choice..." #robloxdev ๐
We all started with "Like 10 posts" and "Follow 7 people" but I've done those now - I was hoping there would be more quests on the sidebar!
What other quests should there be?
Some ideas:
* Like 10 cat photos
* Like 5 posts making fun of twitter
* Block (or like, we don't judge) a user posting ๐ pics
Testing out Wave Function Collapse (WFC) to generate a little town. #robloxdev
I'm digging how snappy everything is too. Such is the lifecycle of the internet, though...
I'm joining in on a spooky halloween #roblox livestream for halloween this year! The idea is we'll be making a game from scratch and taking random ideas from the audience. More details soon... ๐ #robloxdev
