The first 15 chapters of DB are bad. They are in the same unfunny register as a lot of the "100% gags" Toriyama material in the Manga Theater collection. And when we say jokes have "not aged well" I think we are being too euphemistic about it, it legitimately makes it quite hard to recommend to ppl.
Buu arc's underrated. If Namek is where Toriyama best showed his full mastery of battle shonen fundamentals, & Androids/Cell was the height of his twist-and-turn plotting achievements (thx to editorial input), Buu is where he achieves the most satisfying fusion of comedy elements in an action story.

I'd be curious if this partial remake of Super would attempt to make any tweaks to, say, the generally-disliked ending of the Goku Black arc. On the one hand, hell yeah – on the other, it would maybe feel a little disrespectful to Toyotaro and/or Toriyama's previous work on the endings of that arc 🤔
I'm happy to see Toyotaro's work rescued from limbo, though I wish he would get appropriate story credits. And sadly we're still missing any news on the Super manga continuing... release our guy from mangaka jail! I hope they aren't gonna wait to see how fans like Moro before greenlighting more Toyo
Eternally reliving the BoG to ToP cycle is a strange fate to have to endure, but if it buys time for the Galactic Patrol production to really cook, so be it. Four more years!! Excited to hear the reactions to Vol. 2, and I'm happy at least the novelization's appeal was more universal than the game's. I love the game (80h+ on Very Hard 🙂), but your criticisms of it feel resonant to my experience with DS2, which I didn't really like, for all its rapturous acclaim.
Why struggle against the tide of incomprehensible lore? Let yourself be washed along by it like so many dropped packages... I feel similarly about Evangelion, an anime franchise I've really enjoyed, but I couldn't explain to you very well at all what was the deal with any of its byzantine mythology.
When you get to Hugo winner #3, 1956's "Double Star", it's important that you listen to the audiobook read by Bronson Pinchot. It's fantastic in general but also at one point he does the Funniest Fucking Voice I've Ever Heard for a weird alien
