What makes the Compendium pretty cool is it discusses a lot of behind the scenes up until 1995, has essays as well as paleontolgical analysis, monster profiles, color posters, etc.
The Encyclopedia is mostly just info about the monsters, humorous takes and trivia. Both really good books.
It's honestly hard reading Scarlet Gospels and having everyone call Harry D'Amour by his first name only and not think I'm reading about Harry Dresden. It's a me problem.
I love the new Godzilla Encyclopedia, but I'll always have a soft spot for the Godzilla Compendium from the 90s. It was vital for all the comics I drew in my middle school notebook. 😤
