Do lance-tailed manakins use chemical cues in their courtship? The answer is... maybe? Pearl Rivers Key developed clever tests of chemical communication but found that it was the males, not females, who reacted to scent manipulation at the display sites. link.springer.com/article/10.1...

A favorite FSU tradition continued today: Field Day! Our entire bio department got together to just... hang out and play. This year: soccer, kickball, frisbee, team rock-paper-scissors, kubb, 18th century dancing, paper airplane contest, badminton, a "slow bike race," a potluck, and s'mores.
